My not-so-favorite favorites ;)

These are not my top favorites, but names I really like. My top favorites are Lily, Poppy, Holly.

Which one would you pick from my not-so-favorite favorites? And why? Which ones would go with Lily, Poppy, Holly? Comments appreciated!

Lyla - I love how this sounds, but it never quite looks right
Jenna - bit 90s fad?
Eleanor or Elinor - long time favorite that feels a bit bland now. I like Elinor better, but wonder whether people would think of it as a misspelling
Ivy - loved this ages ago, but it has become so trendy
Lyra - I like it, but sometimes I feel like it doesn’t roll off the tongue
Ellie - sometimes feels bland
Chloe - love it, but sometimes feels tired
Haley - spelling issues and 90s

With [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], & [name_u]Holly[/name_u], I would go for [name_u]Ivy[/name_u], which would make for a botanical association for all four sisters’ names. It would also continue the streak of names ending in “-y”.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourites are:

[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] - bight, literary and starry

[name_f]Chloe[/name_f] - lively, sweet and versatile

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] - it’s got elegance and nn potential

With [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] and [name_u]Holly[/name_u], [name_u]Ivy[/name_u] feels like the obvious choice! [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] would also work, and [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] (if you don’t mind repeating initials)

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is my favourite by a mile. [name_m]Classic[/name_m] and elegant. Second would be Ivy… but not a close second. But of all your names [name_u]Ivy[/name_u] would defs go best with [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] & Holly… it just feels incongruous to put anything other than another botanical with that set, it would always feel like the odd one out. Yet individually [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] would also go with either [name_f]Lily[/name_f] or Poppy… can’t see it with [name_u]Holly[/name_u] so much as that has quite an 80s / 90s vibe for me whereas [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] are more cottagecore (Poppy with a more contemporary edge). [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] is also nice, but again would be the odd one out in that set. [name_u]Love[/name_u] it just with [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] though which I feel matches it for zip and spunky, [name_f]Lily[/name_f] feels too soft next to it.

I love in order of preference

  • [name_f]Chloe[/name_f]
  • [name_u]Ivy[/name_u]
  • [name_f]Lyla[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Jenna[/name_f]

I love poppy!

[name_f]Lyla[/name_f], [name_f]Lyra[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], and [name_f]Jenna[/name_f] would be my picks

The ones I like best from your list are:
Lyra-I think that [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] is a very smooth, sparkly name! It’s connection to the instrument lyre makes it have a musical sound.
Chloe-Bouncy and adorable. I used to hate this name, but my opinion has completely flipped.
[name_u]Ivy[/name_u]- Sleek, and even though it is a little trendy, i think it’s pretty under appreciated. I would say compared to the other names on your list, this one feels a bit less popular. I see [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] and [name_u]Haley[/name_u] much more.
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]- I think both spellings are very nice, and because of the Sense and Sensibility character [name_f]Elinor[/name_f], I wouldn’t consider it a miss-spelling.

I would lose:
[name_f]Jenna[/name_f]: Feels more 80s/90s and doesn’t really fit
[name_u]Haley[/name_u]: I agree that the spelling is hard. Any way you spell it there will always be someone there to mispronounce it.
Ones I’m neutral about:
[name_f]Lyla[/name_f]: I just like [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] better. I do think [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] feels a bit more cohesive with your set since it’s a little more well known, but the double L with [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is a bit of a tongue twister.
[name_f]Ellie[/name_f]: Since you already have Elinor/Eleanor, I would just do [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] nn [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]. However, none of your other girls have Nicknames, so [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] on it’s own might fit better with them. Too similar to [name_f]Lily[/name_f] though?

I think the name that fits the best is [name_u]Ivy[/name_u], since it matches the Y ending and the nature connection, but has a distinctive enough sound that it doesn’t just smush in with the other names.
[name_f]My[/name_f] second choice as [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] because it also has a different and yet similar sound, and the meaning “Green Shoot” has a nature connection, even if it’s a bit more subtle.

[name_f]Chloe[/name_f] is my favourite of these. Fresh and with a cool meaning.

I like [name_u]Ivy[/name_u], [name_f]Jenna[/name_f], [name_f]Lyra[/name_f], and Eleanor/Elinor best. I don’t think the [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] spelling looks misspelled and it adds a little sparkle back since its much less common that [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] but I do think it would need a lot of correcting.
For a fourth sister I would go with [name_u]Ivy[/name_u]. As a twin/sister to each name induvidually I’d go for [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and [name_f]Jenna[/name_f], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] and [name_f]Lyra[/name_f], and [name_u]Holly[/name_u] and Eleanor/Elinor.

[name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_u]Holly[/name_u] & [name_u]Ivy[/name_u] – I would keep to the botanical theme.

I think [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], and [name_u]Holly[/name_u] match best with [name_u]Ivy[/name_u] just in the fact that they are all plant names. Other that that, I think [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] and [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] match well with [name_f]Lily[/name_f], and [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] matches with [name_u]Holly[/name_u], although it’s a bit similar.
I personally think [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is the prettiest of this list, and it would match somewhat with [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], and [name_u]Holly[/name_u] but doesn’t stand out as matching.
I think [name_f]Jenna[/name_f] and [name_u]Haley[/name_u] do sound a bit overused and 1990s, and [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] sounds a bit too made-up

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] for it’s spelling and elegance. I love [name_f]Nora[/name_f] as a NN. Second is [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] but prefer [name_f]Lila[/name_f] spelling
