Hey everyone,
I’ve been mixing a few names around in my head and I finally have list that I love.
As most of you I am pregnant with baby #2 (we don’t the sex yet). My due date is [name]January[/name] 12th, 2013.
[name]January[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] - I thought of this name the other day and I really love it. Is it a little to on theme? Please give me more middle name suggestions.
[name]Alice[/name] [name]Faye[/name] - I love [name]Alice[/name] and I love [name]Faye[/name], but I’m worried that it will look too plain next [name]Violet[/name] [name]Angelina[/name] (my first Daughter).
I really love [name]Alice[/name] and [name]Violet[/name] together. The two are both very sweet and vintage when used as sisters. In my opinion, [name]Alice[/name] [name]Faye[/name] is hardly plain. [name]Alice[/name] has literary credit ([name]Alice[/name] in Wonderland), music credit ([name]Alice[/name] in Chains / “White Rabbit”, many other song references),
Overall, [name]Alice[/name] has a poetic and sweet with a little bit of dark undertones (Go Ask [name]Alice[/name], [name]Alice[/name] Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, etc) and energy that has a similar feel to [name]Violet[/name].
[name]January[/name] is such a guilty pleasure name for me, it doesnt hurt that [name]January[/name] [name]Jones[/name] wears it so well. I don’t love it with [name]Elizabeth[/name] though, just too many syllables in the mix.
If I can mix and match…I love [name]January[/name] [name]Faye[/name]!
[name]January[/name] [name]Elise[/name]
[name]January[/name] [name]Liza[/name]
[name]January[/name] [name]Blythe[/name]
[name]January[/name] [name]Kate[/name]
[name]January[/name] [name]Jane[/name] (if you like the alliteration)
I’m glad you don’t think it sounds too plain! I was so worried, but you have definitely reassured me.
January is such a guilty pleasure name for me, it doesnt hurt that January Jones wears it so well. I don’t love it with Elizabeth though, just too many syllables in the mix.
If I can mix and match…I love January Faye!
January Elise
January Liza
January Blythe
January Kate
January Jane (if you like the alliteration)
I know, January has been on my GP list forever! And totally think it’s usable.
I like how January Faye sounds.
Does anybody think it’s little too on theme? I mean naming my Daughter (if I have another), January when she is born in January?
[name]Lovely[/name] names! I think [name]Violet[/name] & [name]Alice[/name] are sweet together. At first glance, though, I adore [name]January[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]. [name]January[/name] carries sophistication, glamour and brightness, but as a child it is darling and wide-eyed in curiosity.
Bottom line: I think you could go with either. If you’re afraid of [name]Alice[/name] looking plain in the shadow of [name]Violet[/name], I would go with [name]January[/name]. It isn’t themey at all.
[name]Alice[/name] is definitely the way to go! [name]Add[/name] [name]Alice[/name] Abernathy of Resident Evil to the list of awesome [name]Alice[/name] references. I think [name]Alice[/name] [name]Faye[/name] works just fine. I had [name]Alice[/name] [name]Imogen[/name] on my own list for the longest before I finally conceded that [name]Alice[/name] did not work with our last name. Other options I considered that I think will work well with [name]Violet[/name] [name]Angelina[/name] are…
[name]January[/name] is an OK name, but I do think it’s a bit much on theme. I’d be more likely to name my child the name of a month to honor someone else. For instance my grandma’s name is [name]Velma[/name] (bleh!), but she was born in [name]August[/name]. Cool way to honor her! In your case, if you really want to use [name]January[/name], I’d stick it in the middle name spot. I like [name]Alice[/name] [name]January[/name] quite a bit actually!
I know a pair of twins named [name]May[/name] and [name]June[/name] because one was born 31 of [name]May[/name] and the other was born 1 of [name]June[/name], so I think it’s okay.
I don’t like [name]Violet[/name] and [name]January[/name] together though.
I really love [name]January[/name] [name]Faye[/name] and [name]Alice[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name], and I think either would sound great with [name]Violet[/name] [name]Angelina[/name].
I like [name]January[/name] so much better- I think it’s more dynamic and fun than [name]Alice[/name] is, especially with [name]Violet[/name]. I love the suggestion of [name]January[/name] [name]Kate[/name].
My opinion on common word names in the first slot is that you need to have a deep connection to that particular object or quality in order to bestow it on your child. [name]Imo[/name], simply being born in [name]January[/name] doesn’t qualify. And while certain calendrical words have gained currency as common names ([name]June[/name], [name]Summer[/name], [name]Autumn[/name], even [name]Winter[/name] nowadays), [name]January[/name] isn’t yet one of them.
I like [name]Alice[/name] and [name]Violet[/name] as twins, but I understand your reservation about [name]Faye[/name] next to the very feminine [name]Angelina[/name]. I would suggest something equally lacy, so little [name]Alice[/name] doesn’t feel like the ugly duckling.
Either [name]Alice[/name] or [name]January[/name] go very well with [name]Violet[/name]. [name]Violet[/name] & [name]Alice[/name] have a very sweet, vintage feel to them, while [name]Violet[/name] & [name]January[/name] both have a sweet and melodic sound. I personally prefer [name]January[/name]. I think they’re both lovely. I don’t think [name]January[/name] is too on theme. Most people won’t realise she was born in [name]January[/name] unless her birthday is coming up, and people will more likely find it odd if you named her [name]January[/name] and she was born in [name]August[/name], as it isn’t quite as mainstream as [name]April[/name], [name]May[/name] or [name]June[/name]
Suggestions
[name]January[/name] [name]Alice[/name] - maybe it’s obvious, but I think it’s actually quite lovely!
[name]January[/name] [name]Amelia[/name]
[name]January[/name] [name]Beth[/name] - Shortened form of [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]January[/name] [name]Catherine[/name]
[name]January[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]January[/name] [name]Eliza[/name] - Another shortened form, I think this one’s my favourite!
[name]January[/name] [name]Faith[/name]
[name]January[/name] [name]Faye[/name]
[name]January[/name] [name]Kate[/name]
[name]January[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name]
[name]January[/name] [name]Matilda[/name]
[name]January[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
[name]January[/name] [name]Tess[/name]
I really like [name]January[/name] but not with [name]Violet[/name]. I love [name]Violet[/name] but [name]January[/name] kind of over shadows it in my opinion. I agree with previous posts, I really like [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Alice[/name] together! I think [name]Violet[/name] [name]Angelina[/name] and something like [name]Alice[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] would be really pretty.
