As you can probably tell, I’m a fan of geezer-ish names with short, strong nicknames. I actually didn’t plan it like that, I just started looking for names that had hip, strong, monosyllabic nicknames and they all ended up being old-man-chic. [name]Stanley[/name] is my father’s name and I’d really love to honor him by naming his first grandchild after him, as a middle name that is. Please let me know what you think- Would he get teased too much? Is there a nn you prefer to the one I chose? Am I crazy for liking these names?
My two cents: No, you’re not crazy. I love [name]Abraham[/name] nn [name]Bram[/name], and I love [name]Ezekiel[/name] and [name]Phineas[/name]. [name]Finn[/name] is a good nickname, though I love [name]Phineas[/name] on its own, but I don’t care that much for the nn [name]Zeke[/name]. The name [name]Tate[/name] is fine, though not my style, but I don’t really like either [name]Beauregard[/name] or [name]Beau[/name]. [name]Beauregard[/name] sounds very stuffy to me, but if I had to use it, I think I might nickname him Gard. I did just learn of a 26-year-old [name]Beauregard[/name] in a neighboring town, though, and as he’s a rising young business owner and a newly-elected member of the city council, I don’t think his name has been too much of a problem for him!

Unfortunately, [name]AbraHAM[/name] [name]STANley[/name] and [name]PhineaS[/name] [name]Stanley[/name] are not ideal.
I love [name]Ezekiel[/name] and [name]Phineas[/name]! I think [name]Zeke[/name] is such a cute nn for a boy. I can’t use it cause it doesn’t work with my last name, but I love it still. [name]Phineas[/name] is on my list right now, but I don’t know if I have the guts to use it. It is a great name though. I like [name]Bram[/name] as a nn, but I really prefer it by itself or as a nn for [name]Abram[/name]. [name]Abraham[/name] is just a bit much for me. [name]Tate[/name] is ok, but something about it kinda bothers me. I think it’s just the T sounds are too harsh right next to each other. I don’t like [name]Beauregard[/name] or [name]Beau[/name] at all.

[name]Abraham[/name] (nn [name]Bram[/name]) – I have always wanted to like the name [name]Abraham[/name]. I keep trying to put it on my list, and I’m just not there yet, but [name]Bram[/name] is helping me fall for it. It’s just such a cool name.

[name]Phineas[/name] nickname [name]Finn[/name] is great, and [name]Abraham[/name] is just lovely. But as one of the other posters said [name]Abraham[/name] [name]Stanley[/name] doesn’t flow so well.
I love [name]Beau[/name] but not [name]Beauregard[/name] and I couldn’t imagine it on a person at all and reminds me of Budgerigar, which isn’t the best. I think [name]Beau[/name] works fine on it’s and I love it with [name]Tate[/name], although these are the FN’s of [name]Emma[/name] Bunton’s children ([name]Baby[/name] Spice - Spice Girls). I would personally prefer [name]Beau[/name] & [name]Tatum[/name], which would be lovely.

[name]Gus[/name], [name]Rufus[/name], [name]Cyrus[/name], [name]Felix[/name], [name]Leopold[/name]. Although none of them really have nicknames except [name]Leopold[/name].
