My top usable girl names - opinions, vibes, etc

Hello.

I’m reviewing/redacting my usable name list and would love to know what your guys’ opinions are! What vibes do they give you, first associations and so on. They’re names I envision picking from for an actual human child if I ever have one. All thoughts are welcome. Thank you

(they’re in alphabetical order)

[name_u]Blythe[/name_u]
[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]
[name_u]Florence[/name_u]
[name_f]Frida[/name_f]
[name_u]Hazel[/name_u]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Margot[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_u]Zoe[/name_u]

@daisydream You have such a beautiful list here! [name_f]My[/name_f] favorites are:
[name_u]Hazel[/name_u]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] +
[name_u]Zoe[/name_u]

They are all fun, sweet, and strong at the same time! The other names on your list seem more formal and refined to me. I think [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] is romantic while [name_f]Frida[/name_f] is artsy, unexpected, and fun!

I hope this helps!

:butterfly::white_heart:

Your list is so charming and classic!! What storybook names!!

[name_u]Blythe[/name_u] is very pretty and understated. I see her in a meadow, wearing a bonnet and attempting to fly a kite
[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] is warm, with braids and rosy cheeks. She loves gardening and picks a handful of flowers to bring inside
[name_u]Florence[/name_u] is one of my favorites on your list! She’s so fun and classic, chasing butterflies and practicing pirouettes in the front lawn
[name_f]Frida[/name_f] is very artsy and colorful! I love the [name_u]Kahlo[/name_u] connection
[name_u]Hazel[/name_u], a personal favorite of mine is such a warm name. She’s in a cozy sweater sipping a big cup of hot chocolate
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] isn’t my favorite, but she’s undoubtedly springy and sweet
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] is so zingy and playful! Stickers on her cheeks and flower petals in her hair
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] feels unbearably [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] to me, unfortunately
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] is so fun! She reminds me of the boxcar children book series
[name_u]Zoe[/name_u] is simple and sweet! Very sparkly and colorful, a girl who’s proclaimed favorite color is “rainbow”

[name_u]Blythe[/name_u]: I’ve never liked the sound of this name, sorry.
[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]: I feel this name is very dated and I do think of [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] from The [name_m]Wizard[/name_m] of [name_m]Oz[/name_m].
[name_u]Florence[/name_u]: It’s dated but may not be too bad if you call her [name_f]Flora[/name_f].
[name_f]Frida[/name_f]: I think of [name_f]Frida[/name_f] [name_u]Kahlo[/name_u], that’s the first thing that pops in my head. I don’t really like the sound of this name, I don’t know why.
[name_u]Hazel[/name_u]: This is my second favorite of your names, it took me awhile to warm up to this name but having met several little Hazels, I now see it as a pretty choice and not just as an “old lady” name.
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]: It’s a solid choice, beautiful imagery and meaning but I do think it’s a bit dated as well.
[name_f]Margot[/name_f]: It’s ok, I prefer just [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] but this works. It doesn’t have the wow factor to me but it’s a perfectly fine name.
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]: All I hear is “oh feel ya”. For that reason, I really dislike this name.
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]: I know the vast majority of berries love this name and I see the appeal but I still hear “violent” sometimes when I hear people say this name.
[name_u]Zoe[/name_u]: This is my favorite, I love the name [name_u]Zoe[/name_u], it has a spunky zippiness that I love. I like that it’s simple yet strong.

my absolute favorite is Ophelia (my top name as well!), and i also love Florence and Margot, but all of the names on your list are lovely. they’re all pretty cottagecore to me (like :tulip: :sunny: :basket:). only a few of the names have big associations for me - Frida Kahlo, Florence Nightingale, Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, and Margot Robbie (only because Barbie just came out! this association will for sure fade for me within a few months).

the only names i don’t really care for are Zoe and Violet. Zoe feels a little basic to me, and I don’t like the sound of Violet or how close it is to violent

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorites are [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], [name_u]Florence[/name_u], and [name_u]Hazel[/name_u]
