We are due to have our baby girl in 2 months and are struggling to agree on any names. We will of course wait until we meet her to see what fits, but it’s nice to go in with some in mind. Currently our first name shortlist includes:
For middle names I like [name_f]Bee[/name_f], [name_f]Ada[/name_f] and [name_f]Lavender[/name_f]. However I’d really love to pass on my mother’s name to my baby, but my mum’s name is [name_f]Susan[/name_f]. I don’t really want the name in that form or [name_f]Sue[/name_f] either. I’m more inclined to go with [name_f]Susannah[/name_f], the southern US sounding version. But that would be for a middle name and even that is difficult to pair with the first names.
Currently I’m leaning toward [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] or [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Bee[/name_f]. Her last name will be an easy one syllable name.
Any suggestions on how to include [name_f]Susan[/name_f] in our girl’s name?
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] from your list! I agree that [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] is the best way to incorporate [name_f]Susan[/name_f] but with the longer names on your list it just fits ok. I think [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] has the best flow. I know it’s not much help but it really is gorgeous. Maybe [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Suzanne[/name_f]?
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] is beautiful. I love that name. [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Bee[/name_f] is kind of cute and quirky but I think that [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] flows wonderfully and would age really well.
I personally love the name [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]. I think that would be a great first name for your daughter. [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] is quite a mouthful however, so that may not be the greatest choice. Have you considered [name_f]Susie[/name_f]? I think that a cute middle name. Also, this may be a stretch, but suSAN, could become [name_u]Sandy[/name_u] which would still be paying tribute to your mother. Good luck!
Out of your list I like [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] the best. I think it has the best flow and still is a way to honour your mom. However, if you want another possible way to honour your mom, you could use [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. Since that’s what [name_f]Susan[/name_f] means.
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Susanne[/name_f]/[name_f]Susanna[/name_f] or [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f].
Like what a PP said, [name_f]Susan[/name_f] and its variants mean “lily” so you’d still honor your mother.
My middle name is [name_f]Susanne[/name_f], honoring one of my grandmother’s middle name, which was [name_f]Sue[/name_f].
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] was going to be my suggestion as soon as I read [name_f]Susan[/name_f], so I’m obviously going to say that one. [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is gorgeous too, but [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Bee[/name_f] feels a little ‘young’ to me - adorable when she’s a little girl, but maybe wouldn’t fit an adult. I do love the sound though - something like [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] still has that joyful sound, and [name_f]Bee[/name_f] could be a nickname?
