Quick question for you! Would it be weird for a child to have their first name start with the exact letters as their last name? For example, for a couple whose last name is Chilcott (completely made up, just using for example) would it be weird for their child to be named [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] Chilcott or [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] Chilcott?
I don’t mind! I think it’s kind of cute! Like [name_m]Brian[/name_m] Brecker while a little cartoonish is very charming. The examples you gave have completely different sounds to start so I don’t mind at all! [name_f]My[/name_f] first and last name both start with the same letter and it’s never been a problem. If anything people think it’s fun!
I like it if done well. I think your [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] example works best. [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] doesn’t work as well but is still a different sound. [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] wouldn’t work at all, IMO.
One of my friends has the first 3 letters of his first and last name in common but because fn is 2 syllables while ln is 4, it works. Plus there’s a slight difference in how the vowel is said which makes it better
I think those are perfect examples because I don’t mind alliteration ([name_f]Chloe[/name_f] Chilcott), but I find the alliteration AND rhyming ([name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] Chilcott) to be too much.
I think it’s fine as long as the letters are pronounced differently in each name. [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] Chilcott is fine but I wouldn’t use [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] Chilcott.
Depends on the name. I have an alliteration name! I had to take the name [name_f]Alaska[/name_f] off of my list for this reason, but [name_f]Annie[/name_f] would be fine with my surname!
