Name Blips

I want to start a thread where we log “blips” in names’ popularity. If you look on a chart and see a name that appeared rapidly then disappeared rapidly, or had a rapid spike/drop in popularity, post it here.

Ideally, you can post research/theories about what caused this.

My first entry to follow immediately.

[name]Anona[/name] blipped to just above 900 in roughly 1904. No other appearance in the top 1000.

This was all but undoubtably due to the 1903 [name]Vivian[/name] [name]Gray[/name] song, [name]Anona[/name].

[name]Sabrina[/name] had a very sharp peak in the 90s, then a rapid decline. [name]Lolita[/name] has had three sharp, rapid peaks, followed by an immediate decline. [name]Madonna[/name] peaked suddenly in the 30s before disappearing; [name]Opal[/name] and [name]Garnet[/name] followed the same trajectory in 1910, and [name]Jemima[/name] in 1880.

[name]Do[/name] you know [name]Baby[/name] Name [name]Wizard[/name]'s Name Voyager? It’s very useful for tracking these trends.

Thanks! Yes that’s a great site : D. To research:

[name]Garnet[/name]
[name]Lolita[/name]
[name]Madonna[/name]
[name]Jemima[/name]
[name]Opal[/name]
[name]Sabrina[/name]

Several other big time pop culture influenced drastic rises and falls that come to mind are [name]Nevaeh[/name], [name]Aaliyah[/name], and [name]Trinity[/name].
