[name_f]Valentina[/name_f] [name_f]Bryony[/name_f] (for Valentine’s [name_u]Day[/name_u], [name_f]Bryony[/name_f] sounds a bit like the “bruary” part of February)

Interesting! I like [name_f]Mieke[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_u]Julie[/name_u] [name_f]Kamille[/name_f], [name_f]Roos[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f], [name_m]Sep[/name_m] Boreas, [name_u]Storm[/name_u] [name_m]Octavian[/name_m] and [name_u]Nova[/name_u] [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f].

  • [name_u]January[/name_u] - [name_f]Alula[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]

[name_f]Alula[/name_f] means “first leap” and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] has similar etymology to [name_u]January[/name_u].

  • [name_u]February[/name_u] - [name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]

[name_f]Freya[/name_f] is the Norse goddess of love. Not only does it share a few sounds with the month, but is also indicative of Valentine’s day. [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is the flower commonly associated with [name_u]February[/name_u].

[name_u]March[/name_u] - [name_u]Mars[/name_u] [name_m]Patrick[/name_m]

[name_u]Mars[/name_u], after the [name_m]Roman[/name_m] god of war, after whom the month was named. St. Patrick’s [name_u]Day[/name_u] is celebrated i. [name_u]March[/name_u]

  • [name_f]April[/name_f] - [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Blossom[/name_f]

A bit cutesy, no? Some say [name_f]April[/name_f] was named after the Latin word aperire meaning “to open”, like blooming flowers. [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] is April’s birth flower.

  • [name_f]May[/name_f] - [name_f]Emerald[/name_f] [name_f]Maia[/name_f]

*Emerald is the birth stone of [name_f]May[/name_f], and [name_f]May[/name_f] itself was named after the Greek goddess [name_f]Maia[/name_f].

  • [name_u]June[/name_u] - [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_u]Juno[/name_u]

[name_f]Margot[/name_f] means “pearl”, the month’s birthstone. [name_u]June[/name_u] was named after the [name_m]Roman[/name_m] goddess [name_u]Juno[/name_u].

  • [name_u]July[/name_u] - [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Soraya[/name_f]

[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] is July’s birthstone. [name_f]Soraya[/name_f] means “the Pleiades” and is a star cluster in the constellation of [name_m]Taurus[/name_m]. The Pleiades were a group of seven sisters, and [name_u]July[/name_u] is the seventh month.

[name_u]August[/name_u] - [name_u]Valo[/name_u] [name_m]Horace[/name_m]

*August was a song by [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] [name_m]Swift[/name_m], in which she sings: “But I can see us lost in the memory/August slipped away into a moment in time/'Cause it was never mine”. [name_m]Horace[/name_m] means “timekeeper”. [name_u]Valo[/name_u] means “eight” in Malagasy.

  • [name_u]September[/name_u] - [name_f]Sappho[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]

[name_f]Sappho[/name_f] means “sapphire”, the birth stone of [name_u]September[/name_u]. The Northern Lights, or the aurora borealis, are most prominent during the Arctic winter season. During this time, the Arctic sky is dark enough for the Northern Lights to be visible in the right conditions. The aurora is at its most active around the equinoxes in [name_u]March[/name_u] and [name_u]September[/name_u].

  • [name_u]October[/name_u] - [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_f]Octavia[/name_f]

[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is the birth flower of [name_u]October[/name_u], and [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] shares the same etymology.

[name_u]November[/name_u] - [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] [name_f]Chrysanthemum[/name_f]

[name_f]Gaia[/name_f] was the Greek personification of earth, as a nod to the autumnal season that arrives with [name_u]November[/name_u]. In mythology, [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] sends a scorpion after [name_u]Orion[/name_u], and later places it in the sky as a constellation. The zodiac of [name_m]Scorpio[/name_m] is mostly associated with [name_u]November[/name_u]. [name_f]Chrysanthemum[/name_f] is the birth flower.

  • [name_u]December[/name_u] - [name_u]Ivy[/name_u] [name_f]Narcissa[/name_f]

[name_f]Narcissa[/name_f] comes from [name_m]Narcissus[/name_m], the flower associated with [name_u]December[/name_u]. [name_u]Ivy[/name_u] is linked to [name_u]Christmas[/name_u], a festival in the month. Unrelated, but probably helped me in selecting [name_u]Ivy[/name_u]: [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] [name_m]Swift[/name_m] released evermore in [name_u]December[/name_u] of 2020. The album had a song named “ivy”.

I tried to let go of the standard names and go for something a little bit different!
