My fave boy name is [name_m]Grayson[/name_m]. We have a daughter, [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f], 3. I also have a nephew named [name_u]Mason[/name_u], who we are always with. My concern is threefold:
- [name_m]Grayson[/name_m] and [name_u]Mason[/name_u] are too close
- [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_u]Gray[/name_u] as a subset make it sound like we are die-hard Ohio State fans ( We are from Ohio, but don’t care about OSU) 3) [name_m]Grayson[/name_m] and [name_f]Grace[/name_f] are too similar
I like - but don’t love- [name_m]Graydon[/name_m] as an alternative, but I still have #2 as a conflict. Thoughts?
You raise some good concerns. I agree that if you’re with [name_u]Mason[/name_u] quite a bit, a rhyming name might not be best pick, but maybe it’s not a total scratch. [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_u]Grey[/name_u] might be an issue as a sibset if you’re still living in Ohio or if you were in Michigan (I’m a UM fan)… others might not pick up on it. As far as the middle name of your daughter being too similar, I see it only being an issue if you call her “[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]” a lot. I feel [name_m]Graydon[/name_m] is made up so I’m looking for some alternatives…

[name_m]Grayson[/name_m] is definitely better than [name_m]Graydon[/name_m], (ps - [name_u]Grey[/name_u] seems more elegant, plus takes another letter away from being like [name_u]Mason[/name_u])
it sounds like [name_u]Grey[/name_u] will be his nickname from your post, [name_u]Mason[/name_u] & [name_u]Grey[/name_u] is totally fine
if [name_u]Mason[/name_u] was Graysons brother, then yeah thats too close.
dont think [name_u]Grey[/name_u] and [name_f]Grace[/name_f] as too bad even if they were both first names simply because they are so lovely, its just not the same as [name_u]James[/name_u] & [name_m]John[/name_m], [name_f]May[/name_f] & [name_u]Bay[/name_u], etc
plus [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is the middle name, you’ll never introduce them as [name_f]Grace[/name_f] & [name_u]Grey[/name_u] or [name_m]Greyson[/name_m], it’ll be [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_m]Greyson[/name_m].
i wouldnt care about the football colors, you arent fans and i doubt people will say when you introduce your kids ‘Go Ohio!’ or something.
plus if you arent fans, you probably wont be anywhere die-hard fans would be in the first place
[name_m]Grayson[/name_m] is the way to go. : )
Wishing you well.
I love [name_u]Grey[/name_u], but not [name_m]Grayson[/name_m] or [name_m]Graydon[/name_m]. You also have the option of [name_m]Graham[/name_m].
[name_m]Grayson[/name_m] is much better in my opinion!
- I agree that with a handy nickname with which to distinguish them, [name_m]Grayson[/name_m] and [name_u]Mason[/name_u] shouldn’t be a problem.
- the Ohio State thing may come up, but if you just laugh and say “no, just a coincidence” you should be fine.
- I don’t think this a problem at all if [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]'s middle name. Unless you periodically call her grace.
Overall, I think your concerns are well intentioned but unnecessary. I think [name_m]Grayson[/name_m] is the right choice! Best of luck.
I like [name_u]Gray[/name_u] or [name_u]Grey[/name_u]. I live in [name_u]Montana[/name_u] and would never have thought of the team colors thing.
