Name Change Help & Suggestions

Hello Berries, I hope you’re all having a swell day/night. As the title suggests, I’m going to change my name and I’m in dire need for your help.

I’ve settled on [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] as a middle name, a tribute to my late grandmother but I’m stumped on the first name. You ought to know that I’m a very musical person and I’m a giant book worm so whichever name I choose has to somehow convey both things. So here are the names I might choose from:

• [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]
Pros: it’s beautiful, has a lot of history and is [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] Plath’s pen name.
Cons: I despise the nn [name_f]Vicky[/name_f] and [name_f]Tori[/name_f], not to mention the name is just a little too common.

• [name_f]Elena[/name_f]
Pros: Absolutely gorgeous and I love the meaning. It also reminds me of the song [name_f]Helena[/name_f] by the Misfits.
Cons: The Vampire Diaries connections and how the pronunciation differes a lot.

• [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
Pros: It’s a very pretty name with a lot of nn options. Plus it’s the name of a [name_f]Joni[/name_f] [name_m]Mitchell[/name_m] song and a Prism song.
Cons: I’m just not sure about the meaning.

• Delilah (suggested by the wonderful mommyofsag)
Pros: Very musical and very beautiful.
Cons: My mom hates it. Also, too many Ls? My last name has two Ls in it and with Isabelle, I’m just not sure.

So what do you all think? Suggestions are highly appreciated.

I personally like [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] the best of your list, but to be fair Im slightly biased. I also see the dilemma of not liking either of the nicknames, I go by [name_f]Tori[/name_f] and [name_m]Ive[/name_m] always liked it. Another con of being name [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] is that people will at some point ask you: Hey [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], WHats your secret?. A pro is that you can have fun coming up with witty responses to the question.

Other suggestions:

[name_f]Alana[/name_f] (means harmony)
[name_f]Ella[/name_f] (or [name_f]Elle[/name_f] or [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]) ([name_f]Elle[/name_f] can also mean beautiful fairy, which is a definite plus if you ask me)
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] (its in your signature, and you can hear people try to sing Hey There [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] all the time)
[name_f]Mila[/name_f] (can mean Peoples [name_u]Love[/name_u])
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] (can mean new, young or chases butterflies)
[name_f]Scarlet[/name_f] (or [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f])
[name_f]Marina[/name_f] (or just [name_f]Marine[/name_f])
[name_f]Danielle[/name_f] ([name_u]Dani[/name_u] [name_u]California[/name_u])
[name_f]Roxanne[/name_f] (Im stretching on the music thing now, but [name_f]Roxy[/name_f] is super cool and its means [name_f]Dawn[/name_f])
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] (means strong)
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f] (or [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] spelling)
[name_u]Jude[/name_u] (Hey [name_u]Jude[/name_u])

Okay thats all I can think of right now, so hopefully I helped somewhat. Goodluck!

I like [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] the best as well. I think it goes really well with [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] and it has a nice meaning. If you don’t use the whole name, which is gorgeous, maybe you can suggest nicknames besides [name_f]Vicky[/name_f] and [name_f]Tori[/name_f].

Ideas:
[name_f]Vivi[/name_f]
[name_u]Vic[/name_u]
[name_f]Toria[/name_f]
[name_m]Troy[/name_m]
Vee
Torra
[name_f]Ria[/name_f] / [name_u]Rio[/name_u]
[name_f]Vita[/name_f]

Good luck with your new beautiful name choice!

[name_f]Elena[/name_f] is the only one that doesn’t lend itself to unpleasant nicknames. I find it a bit dull, but that would be my pick from your choices. I’d consider [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] (relating to wisdom), [name_u]Lyric[/name_u], [name_f]Muse[/name_f], [name_f]Bronte[/name_f], [name_f]Alexandria[/name_f] (ancient city that collected all the knowledge/books of the world), [name_f]Corinne[/name_f], [name_f]Calliope[/name_f]…anything you like?

I like [name_f]Elena[/name_f] the best, and I think most people will know the pronunciation. The vampire diaries has so many characters I really don’t think the connection is important

I like [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] best, but from your explanations I think your reasons for [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] are the best (and cons matter least).

FWiw, I don’t think [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] would automatically get [name_f]Vicky[/name_f] or [name_f]Tori[/name_f].

Personally, I like [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] the best, and [name_f]Elena[/name_f] the least. [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is an absolutely gorgeous name, despite its popularity. According to this website, [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] means ‘work,’ but personally, as long as the name has meaning to you, it doesn’t matter

I do really like [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], but I totally agree with what you say about the nicknames. I don’t mind [name_f]Tori[/name_f], apart from the fact it sounds like [name_f]Tory[/name_f] (UK political party). I much prefer [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] to [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] though,

I’ve never liked [name_f]Elena[/name_f]. I dont know why, I guess I find [name_f]Ellen[/name_f] a bit old and boring and [name_f]Elena[/name_f] is too similar. Also I have known too many [name_f]Elena[/name_f]'s! I would think most people would know the correct pronunciation ([name_f]Ell[/name_f]-eh-nuh) but I can see why some may say it wrong.

[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] is gorgeous!

I’m considering adding [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] to the list so thank you!

WHOAAAA you live in Alicante?! I used to live there
And I’ve also changed my name (fn is settled, mn will be decided upon in the next couple years, as I plan to change it around the time I get married)

I like [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] best. [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is my second pick. [name_f]Elena[/name_f] is nice, but it does indeed have some pronunciation issues, depending where you are.
Would you plan on going by [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] all the time? Or would an unconventional nickname (like [name_f]Cora[/name_f]!) be more your style?

I think [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] is lovely, too. I used to have a roommate (when I lived in Alicante, actually) named [name_f]Dalila[/name_f], who is from [name_f]Italy[/name_f], and I think that’s quite nice as well.

Best of luck!

I like [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] the best. [name_f]Vicky[/name_f] and [name_f]Tori[/name_f] are possible nicknames of [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] but you can always insist on being called [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] if that is the name you prefer. I know a [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] and she goes by the name [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]. I have never heard her being called anything else.

I’ve finally settled on [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]! Thank you all for your help, I truly appreciate it.

Awesome! Congratulations, [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]

Edited because I just noticed you no longer need advice! Whoops :). Congrats on your new name!

Congrats [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], I love your name!

Wishing you much happiness [name_f]Victoria[/name_f].

[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] is such a lovely name. Congrats.
