Hi! I’m planning on legally changing my name and have started socially/professionally using the name “Aza.” I’d prefer for Aza (ay-zuh, like Ava with a z) to be a nickname for something longer, but it could be the first or middle name. I am only looking to keep my last name. I’m feeling really stuck, but here’s what I know-
I’m fine if Aza is a bit of a “stretch” from the original name, similar to how Kit is a nn for Katherine/Teddy is a nn for Theodora. Would absolutely love if it was a name with more than 1 nickname
I love some of the longer “ava” or “ada” names, but I don’t feel like they work with the z sound. ex: Aveline, Adelaide, Avalon, Adelais
Last name starts with an H and ends with an “o” sound. i have irish/german/mexican roots, but don’t need the name origin to match.
Names that could have aza as a nickname:
Azalia
Maisie (too cutesy?)
Azelie
Zaira (i would pronounce this like Mayra / zye-ruh)
Other names that I’m liking:
Amelia/Emilia
Marin (ma-Rin, not mare-in)
Meredith
Elizabeth (maybe)
Kadri (wouldn’t use for myself)
Maeve (wouldn’t use for myself)
Love these, but know people with these names:
Lydia
Linnea
Aislinn
Emma (sister)
Grace
Boy names I like (just for vibe purposes, I don’t want anything masculine)
Ambrose
Silas
Stellan
Caspian
Absolutely not:
Lauren
Sarah
Any help is appreciated! If it helps, I’m in my early 20s.
I like [name_f]Azalia[/name_f] (or Azalea), Azelie and [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] (I know Maisies in their mid 20s)
[name_u]Meredith[/name_u], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] are nice too.
Some ideas:
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Zadie[/name_f] ‘Aza’ (but it also gives you [name_u]Ami[/name_u], [name_f]Mimi[/name_f], [name_f]Millie[/name_f], [name_f]Mila[/name_f] etc)
Azariah/Azaria
[name_f]Zadie[/name_f]
[name_f]Acacia[/name_f]
[name_f]Anastacia[/name_f]
Cadence/Cadenza
[name_f]Adeliza[/name_f]

[name_f]Zadie[/name_f] is amazing but my dog’s name is [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]! [name_f]Acacia[/name_f] and [name_f]Cadenza[/name_f] are interesting and giving me more ideas for names to look at. I’ll keep this updated in case I find anything new

Azzurra, Aziza, Yelitza, Yaritza, Azariah, Zariah, Zelie
I second the idea of [name_u]Azariah[/name_u], I’ve known a few and always thought it was a cool name.
Otherwise maybe…
[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Aziza[/name_f]
[name_f]Aliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Azucena[/name_f]

Azaroa
[name_f]Azura[/name_f]
[name_f]Aziliz[/name_f]
I really love the name [name_u]Aza[/name_u]
. [name_f]Azalia[/name_f] (and Azalea) or [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] would be great! I definitely don’t think [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] is too cutesy.
Some other ideas… (Sorry for any repeats!)
[name_u]Hazel[/name_u]
[name_u]Paisley[/name_u]
[name_u]Ainsley[/name_u]
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]

[name_f]Mazarine[/name_f]
[name_f]Zara[/name_f]
Seraphina/Zeraphina
[name_f]Zinnia[/name_f]
i love the other recs, but for more options would you consider an a first name with a z middle name?
something like amelie zelda, ada zaira, amalia zelie
I am loving this idea and it really opens up a lot more options (that I am much more likely to enjoy!)
[name_u]Hazel[/name_u], [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], [name_f]Azalia[/name_f], Azaelis are top contenders for full names with [name_u]Aza[/name_u] as a clear-ish nickname… I’ll have to come back with A and Z names
Thank you!!

[name_f]Azalea[/name_f] like the flower!
[name_f]Azalia[/name_f] and [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] seem to be the most obvious/least stretchy options as a long name for NN [name_u]Aza[/name_u]. I also like the suggestion of A.Z. initials.
[name_f]Aveline[/name_f] [name_f]Zoë[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Zinnia[/name_f]
[name_f]Avalon[/name_f] [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u]
[name_f]Adelais[/name_f] [name_f]Zephira[/name_f]
