I need advice on our baby’s name. He was given the name [name]Xavier[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] at birth, which his dad really liked. I didn’t love it but didn’t have something I liked better that we agreed on. I regretted the name as soon as we came home from the hospital but did not want to make any rash decisions in my post-partum state, and my husband still liked the name. In the months and weeks that followed I have tried to grow to like the name but I simply can’t, especially because people mispronounce it all of the time. I am still convinced it is wrong and my baby is 6 months old.
Should I change it? The name I love is [name]Parker[/name] [name]Elias[/name]. My husband is concerned that it is a girls name but I love it so much. I also like the name [name]Cooper[/name], which my husband and I agree on.
I would have changed his name already but I’m worried about confusing my older child, who is two. What would you do?
Thank you!
maybe a nick name would help (a lot of kids end up gaining nick names) like xander (zander) short for his middle name which i think is cute by itself or refering to him by his middle name this will at least limit the confusion to your older child but if your set on changing his legal first name i still suggest keeping the middle name and working with that (for your 2 year olds sake) but parker alexander i think is a good choice if you really want to change his legal name.
to me [name]Xavier[/name] is so much more interesting and has a great history/meaning than parker or cooper!
I would keep [name]Xavier[/name]! or maybe go with the mn… nn [name]Alex[/name] or [name]Ander[/name]! ( i really really dislike [name]Xander[/name] as a nn)
I can see the frustration with the many ways to pronounce [name]Xavier[/name]
Since you both like [name]Cooper[/name] then go with [name]Cooper[/name] [name]Xavier[/name], [name]Cooper[/name] [name]Elias[/name], or [name]Cooper[/name] [name]Alexander[/name]. And as nblondie890 suggested, go start calling the baby by his new middle name and transition into the new first name for the 2yr olds sake
Btw, I love [name]Parker[/name] [name]Elias[/name] and although it has been used on girls if I saw it written I would assume [name]Parker[/name] was a boy
I think that if you do not love the name, then you should change it. It is best to change your son’s name now while he’s still a baby than to go through life not liking your son’s name. I have never met girls named [name]Parker[/name] and [name]Cooper[/name], only boys, and would never consider them girls’ names.
