My SO and I have been discussing names for a few weeks now. He caught me by surprise as being interested in names, although I do think our styles and preferences are quite different. It would be great to get some new suggestions. My stepson’s name is [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], he goes by [name_u]Lexi[/name_u], so you can tell SO’s tastes run in the more traditional side, he has actually told me my daughters’ names are “quite adventurous” and “pretty cool but pretty different”. Can you feel his resistance to thinking outside of the box? lol. I had full reign in choosing especially [name_f]Ziva[/name_f]'s name, so I guess I grew used to being the main decision maker in the naming process (and parenting), as well as not having to worry about my partner’s opinions… Well that’s all over.
What names can you think of, that could be sort of in between his more traditional name preferences and mine?
From the names in your signature, I think [name_f]Amalia[/name_f] is a good compromise name for you two. It sounds like the traditional [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], but with a little twist. [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] could also work in that regard. I also like [name_f]Eleni[/name_f] and [name_f]Mira[/name_f]. In fact, [name_f]Mira[/name_f] was the first name I put down when making this list until I noticed that it was already in your signature!
Heh, I totally forgot about the boys… But George, Felix, Louis, and Arthur from your signature are all great choices if you don’t mind being more traditional with a boy’s name.
If you want something a little bolder, then maybe:
Casper
Constantine
Raphael
Malcolm
Blaise
Dmitri
Quentin
Luca
Nikolai
Ephraim
Orion
Ivan
Simeon
Edmund
@mega_muffin! Awesome suggestions! Unfortunately he’s vetoed [name_f]Mira[/name_f], he said it’s weird since he is a Spanish speaker to call his baby “look!”…
I love that you mentioned [name_u]Blaise[/name_u], [name_m]Ivan[/name_m] and [name_m]Dmitri[/name_m] for a boy as those are names I really like but that for some reason hadn’t occurred to me. Also, [name_f]Emilia[/name_f], [name_f]Luna[/name_f], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_f]Esme[/name_f] are lovely, I’m writing them down on our “to consider” list. Oh, and what beautiful names your kids have!
Thank you, I love your kids’ names, too, especially [name_f]Viola[/name_f] Mahal!
Too bad about [name_f]Mira[/name_f], but I suppose it would be weird for a Spanish speaker to use it as a name. Knowing that your partner speaks Spanish, though, does bring to mind some lovely Spanish names like [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] (I really like her in the sibset!), [name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] (could even use [name_f]Esme[/name_f] as a nickname), [name_f]Esperanza[/name_f], [name_f]Araceli[/name_f], [name_f]Mireya[/name_f], [name_f]Ximena[/name_f], [name_m]Diego[/name_m], [name_m]Javier[/name_m], and [name_m]Joaquin[/name_m].
Yes it would be interesting to incorporate. I’m particularly passionate about [name_f]Esperanza[/name_f] ([name_m]Spalding[/name_m]), [name_f]Dolores[/name_f] (del Río) and [name_f]Soledad[/name_f]. I think they could all make stunning middle names. Good idea! At this point though, we’re just trying to keep the brainstorming towards first names first. I promised to only go crazy about the names after we find out the sex.
