There is another forum post about names containing your name, but I was thinking, what if you chose a name that contained your name for your child? I know celebrities do this.
For instance, my name is [name_u]Andrea[/name_u]. If I were to name my child, it would be [name_m]Androcles[/name_m], [name_f]Andromache[/name_f], or [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f].
Got it?
I’d love to hear your child’s name within your name!
This is a fun post!
[name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] and if I were to name a daughter it could be [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] (Spelt with an S to get [name_u]Lisa[/name_u]) or [name_f]Isla[/name_f] which is an anagram of my name.
I guess for a boy I could do [name_u]Elias[/name_u] which is an anagram plus an E!
[name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_f]Amanda[/name_f]. I can’t really think of any names that have my name in them, but I’ve been mistakenly called [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] before, so there’s that.
[name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] and I’ve often wondered if it would be weird to name my son [name_m]Caspian[/name_m]! So [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] is one that I would use. There’s also [name_f]Cassia[/name_f], [name_m]Cassian[/name_m], [name_m]Casper[/name_m] and Castiel (haha). Or if I use the second portion “andra”. There is [name_m]Anders[/name_m], [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]/[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]/[name_f]Alexandria[/name_f], [name_f]Sandra[/name_f], [name_f]Chandra[/name_f], [name_f]Kendra[/name_f], [name_u]Andrea[/name_u], [name_m]Evander[/name_m], [name_m]Lysander[/name_m] (which I also love). Wow, there’s a lot!
[name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_f]Carly[/name_f] so it could be [name_f]Carissa[/name_f], [name_f]Clarissa[/name_f], [name_u]Carlyn[/name_u], [name_f]Carina[/name_f] or [name_f]Carlina[/name_f].
I’m [name_f]Claire[/name_f], and I lovelovelove [name_f]Clara[/name_f], but wouldn’t actually use it…they’re far too similar, and would undoubtably cause confusion.
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] is an obvious one… I dunno. [name_f]Livia[/name_f]. [name_f]Liv[/name_f]. [name_f]Iva[/name_f]. [name_f]Lia[/name_f]. [name_f]Via[/name_f]. [name_f]Viva[/name_f]. Alvi. [name_f]Ola[/name_f]. Nothing very imaginative!
[name_f]My[/name_f] name’s [name_f]Jamilah[/name_f]. So I suppose [name_f]Mila[/name_f], [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_f]Amy[/name_f], are all plausible, and [name_f]Halima[/name_f] is my name backwards without the J (there are 2 in my year, that’s how I know :P). For a boy [name_u]James[/name_u] or [name_u]Jamie[/name_u] could work.
If we have a boy, the middle name will most likely be [name_m]Karl[/name_m]. This is my bf’s middle name, and his father’s middle name, but it’s also kind of after me because my middle name is the English (well, [name_m]French[/name_m]) feminine version of [name_m]Karl[/name_m] (I’m sure you can guess). So my bf and I sort of have the same middle name, taking into account different languages/genders, which is cool. So if we can make it work with a first name, and if we have a son one day, I am definitely in favour of naming him “[first name] [name_m]Karl[/name_m]”. It doesn’t exactly contain my name, but it is closely related.
[name_f]My[/name_f] first name is almost a complete standalone. There are a few different versions from other countries, but the only one that would work in English is my version, and none of the versions work in Iceland. Also I don’t particularly like it. There is a word name that I’ve sometimes seen used on boys which is the second syllable of my first name (also a feminine nickname for my name), but that’s out because I don’t like it and it doesn’t work in Iceland. If you want to look up my first name it is currently number 8 on the US stats, but I don’t want to post it directly here.
There’s not a lot you can really do with [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], except the obvious [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], which I don’t like and wouldn’t use - nothing against the name, I’m just fed up of people calling me it by mistake enough to dislike it.
I’d definitly use [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] for a boy, though - my middle name starts with the letters [name_u]JO[/name_u] and ‘Seph’ is close to ‘[name_f]Soph[/name_f]’, which I get called a lot. [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] is another one that’s half-there - it’s got the ‘fee’ ending sound of [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] at the start, though I’m not sure I could get OH on board with that one quite the same.
I could get [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] and [name_f]Kaisa[/name_f] from the first part of my name, and I actually do like them and would consider them a middle name. There’s no names I could use on the boy side with those three letters. I could also try the end of my name and get names like [name_f]Madeline[/name_f], [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], etc. The only one I’d probably consider irl is [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]. For boys, there are more options, but still nothing I like enough to consider using: [name_m]Colin[/name_m], [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m], [name_u]Sterling[/name_u], [name_m]Clint[/name_m], etc
Though my name ([name_f]Annalise[/name_f]) does contain other names: [name_f]Anna[/name_f], lise, and [name_f]Anne[/name_f] (if you replace the 2nd ‘a’ with an ‘e’)
[name_f]My[/name_f] first name is [name_f]Ana[/name_f], so it could be: [name_f]Alana[/name_f], [name_f]Anabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Mariana[/name_f], [name_f]Juliana[/name_f], [name_f]Adriana[/name_f], [name_f]Anne[/name_f], [name_f]Hannah[/name_f], [name_f]Anya[/name_f], [name_f]Annette[/name_f], [name_f]Annelise[/name_f].
[name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and I like [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] and [name_m]Lucius[/name_m] for a boy, and Luscinda and [name_f]Lucienne[/name_f] for a girl. Luscinda is probably the only one I would ever actually consider using, though.
I’ve always liked [name_f]Juliana[/name_f] which has my name in it.
Other names could include:
[name_f]Liliana[/name_f]
[name_f]Emiliana[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgiana[/name_f]
