[name]One[/name] of my favorite favorite favorite names ever is [name]Elizabeth[/name]. I get happy every time I see it and I just find it awesome, BUT I have a cousin named [name]Elizabeth[/name]. I only see her at family functions (that happen like once a year maybe) and we live far away from one another. Also, I have 20+ cousins on that side of my family (and it’s growing). What would you do if you were in my situation? Would you find a different name or use [name]Elizabeth[/name]?
[name]Elizabeth[/name] isn’t a rare name. If her name were [name]Persephone[/name], I might feel differently, but [name]Elizabeth[/name] is a classic name. I agree with you that it is beautiful.
I would use the name. I doubt the cousin will be offended you love her name.
I agree, [name]Elizabeth[/name] is classic and beautiful. If you rarely see each other and you really love it, I would say you can use it. However, there are also lots of variations you can use - [name]Eliza[/name], just [name]Beth[/name], [name]Elisabeth[/name] (even changing that one letter could make the name a little more “yours”), [name]Elsie[/name], [name]Elise[/name], [name]Elisabetta[/name], [name]Lisabette[/name], etc. And there are tons of international variations as well! If you love [name]Elizabeth[/name], there are definitely lots of options.
Use it! Absolutely use it! Most Elisabeths end up with different NN (given there’s like a gazillion) and you’re only seeing her once a year so I wouldn’t worry one bit.
[name]Lisbeth[/name], [name]Lilibet[/name], [name]Elspeth[/name] etc might be nice alternatives if we can’t convince you!
I agree with everyone else. It’s such a common (but beautiful!!) name that it would not be weird at all. [name]Elizabeth[/name] if one of my favorites too. I see in your signature, though, that you’re a teenager. I would be less worried about your cousin’s name and more worried that someone close to you will use the name first. That’s a much bigger dilemma. Not that you should be worried about anything! That’s just more the situation I’m in – all my friends are having kids and I’m crossing my fingers they won’t use my favorites (because all my favorites are very common, classic names).
I wouldn’t even think twice about it, honestly. I would definitely use it. My family views each immediate family group as a “family”, so we’re constantly using the same names as cousins and aunts and uncles (granted they’re family names, but still). I only think it would be a problem if it were a really rare name.
I definitely think you can use the name [name]Elizabeth[/name]. It’s a beautiful classic name that will always be stylish and in the top 100. I wouldn’t think twice about it. [name]Elizabeth[/name] is your name
