I like both [name]Jude[/name] and [name]Roscoe[/name] but I voted for [name]Jude[/name] because I like the fact it’s a name with a long history but still feels fresh and contemporary. I also think that [name]Jude[/name] is a versatile name and will give you more options for naming any future children. It was a toss up between [name]Helen[/name] and [name]Tamsin[/name] for your daughter but I voted for the spunkier [name]Tamsin[/name]. [name]McDonald[/name] is a pretty common surname so I think something more unusual and unexpected like [name]Tamsin[/name] would do nicely! Now, give yourself a rest from all of the naming! Good luck and let us know your final choice. Regards, [name]Mischa[/name].
I think since mc[name]Donald[/name] has three syllables it would be best to pick a first name that has one or two. It will flow better that way. I voted for [name]Nola[/name] and [name]Jude[/name]. Also with an easy last name like that you have a little more freedom for an uncommon first name.
And don’t worry much about the ex. He will be in your child’s life or not and the name never matters unless it’s ex bf [name]Jr[/name].
Out of your combos, I like [name]Helen[/name] [name]Lucille[/name] [name]Rae[/name] the best. Honestly though, I prefer just [name]Helen[/name] [name]Lucille[/name]. I think those two names together are gorgeous! I know you said that you wanted two middle names but if it’s stressing you out all that much, maybe you should just go with one instead.
I live [name]Jude[/name] and I love [name]Verity[/name] just because they’re fresh and honest - if that makes any sense? Also, I love the nickname [name]Vera[/name] for [name]Verity[/name].
Bootom line is that I think both names will grow up well with your child.
More love for [name]Tamsin[/name] and [name]Jude[/name]! I wish you all the best and hope that a break from staring at names will help you reach a decision when you’re ready. I’m also due in [name]December[/name] and also completely worn out by staring at names. I should take my own advice and take a break, but I probably won’t
I voted for [name]Imogen[/name] and [name]Jude[/name].
I love [name]Imogen[/name], and don’t think it has too many syllables at all. [name]Nola[/name] is sweet, but reminds me of New Orleans too much (which goes by [name]NOLA[/name] a lot), which is not particularly a problem, just a personal thing.
I like [name]BOTH[/name] [name]Jude[/name] and [name]Roscoe[/name], [name]Jude[/name] wins just out of personal preference, no big reason.
I recommend taking a nameberry break for a few months, and maybe in the fall re-looking and rehearing names - what do you still love and keep coming back to, regardless about what other people (especially on a message board!) think.
I voted for [name]Tamsin[/name] and [name]Roscoe[/name].
I agree with the previous posters who suggested taking a name break for a few months. [name]Just[/name] set everything name related aside for a while. Come back in the fall and see what you still like and what you don’t like. It’s kind of early to be making the final decision. Also, remember to go with the name that you love. Not the one your family loves.
I am going to take a break, but i just had to express my gratitude again for your input, everyone! It’s not Nameberry that is giving me name fatigue. I love Nameberry! I’m just overthinking this stuff. I doodle names whenever i have downtime and will talk to the baby calling him or her different names. Poor kid is going to have an in utero identity crisis!
Honestly, I think all your girl’s names are excellent choices. I do think that the sequence “[name]Helen[/name] [name]Lucille[/name] [name]McDonald[/name]” flows better than “[name]Lucille[/name] [name]Helen[/name] [name]McDonald[/name],” even with the first names [name]Imogen[/name] and [name]Tamsin[/name].
[name]Roscoe[/name] is definitely a dog’s name to me. Either that or a fatuous upper-class character in an early-twentieth-century novel.
I think [name]Jude[/name] [name]Holden[/name] is fabulous. I’m from the deep South, too, so I particularly like the idea of using it as a double name: [name]Jude[/name] [name]Holden[/name] just flows beautifully. Also, being from the south, [name]Nola[/name] is a total turnoff. It’s New Orleans, plain and simple, and strikes me as odd as a first name.
Definitely use [name]Nola[/name], it’s one of those beautiful names that you don’t hear of outside of nameberry, and I’m sure everybody will adore a little [name]Nola[/name] (:
As for [name]Roscoe[/name]… It’s not that I don’t like it, but I’ve met several dogs called [name]Roscoe[/name], which has put me off a bit, but, if you love it, then you should use it! I personally prefer [name]Jude[/name], just 'cause of The Beatles (:
Argh, now I had a baby dream last night that I had a little boy named [name]Zane[/name], and we were playing in a park. [name]Zane[/name] isn’t even on my list, but now I like it and am confused again. My subconscious needs to butt out and give me a break!
