I’ve been in love with he name Valenine for as long as I can remember. I always imagined the name as a symbol almost for the love between my husband and I, and our first child. But lately my family, who are hispanic, have suggested [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] instead. Its beautiful no doubt, but I’m just not sure how I feel about it. Her middle name will be [name_f]Sally[/name_f], after my grandmother. Please help!
If you love [name_u]Valentine[/name_u] more than [name_f]Valentina[/name_f], use [name_u]Valentine[/name_u]. It’s a perfectly nice name! Your family can always call her [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] or [name_f]Tina[/name_f] as a nickname if they want to.
I prefer [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] personally, but if you are in love with [name_u]Valentine[/name_u] then you should use it! It’s all about what you love!
You won’t regret sticking with what your inner voice has been telling you all along. Your family will come to adore your girl for who she is regardless of her name. This is your opportunity as a parent to name her whatever you and your husband feel is right.
And I agree with Skiftande, your family can always call her [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] or [name_f]Tina[/name_f] as a sort of family pet name if they want. My name is just plain [name_f]Sarah[/name_f], but my family has always called me by a similar, longer name. I just go by [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] everywhere else, and I personally don’t find that to be too big of a deal for me. In fact I like it, it feels more affectionate to me.
Best of luck~
I love [name_u]Valentine[/name_u] - both pronunciations, to rhyme with mine and teen. I’m not keen on [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] though. Stick to your plans and use this lovely name!
I agree with most of the previous posters! I prefer [name_u]Valentine[/name_u] and think that’s what you should go for.
[name_u]Valentine[/name_u] is wonderful, and full of meaning. I would stick with it! I personally love it, it’s a middle name on my lists. I always liked it for the symbolism of my daughter being my forever [name_u]Valentine[/name_u], and for the name’s actual meaning - “strong, vigourous, healthy.”
I have [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] on my short list, so I’m partial, but if what you really love is [name_u]Valentine[/name_u], please stick with it.
