Quick question! Does [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] C___ie sound horrible? My husband wants our next boys name to be [name_m]Beckett[/name_m], and he also wants the middle name to be [name_m]William[/name_m] after his Dad, which I am ok with. My favorite name for our next boy (if we have one) is [name_m]Wilder[/name_m]. Is flow that big of a deal or does [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] just sound horrible? HELP!
His second favorite name is [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] so if we had 3 boys [name_m]Beckett[/name_m] and [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] would inevitably be the other 2.
I like the alliteration a lot in this case. It helps link the two names which are otherwise a bit different in style. And because the Wi- is pronounced differently in each name, it’s not sing-songy.
[name_f]Imo[/name_f] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] doesn’t flow at all. I love the names [name_m]Beckett[/name_m] and [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] though and think they could work well together! Your hub has good taste in names… Wish mine thought the same way lol
I place flow over meaning, hands down. You say and hear thr name waaaay more often than you discuss its meaning. And imho, over time, the meaning changes to mean your son and all that he means to you.
I prefer [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m].
[name_m]Wilder[/name_m] [name_m]Beckett[/name_m] works, too.
I am actually a fan of alliteration, so I REALLY like [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m]! I agree with the fact that his middle name won’t be used very often so it’s not a huge issue, but also just like the way the names sound together
I prefer [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] too. But there’s nothing wrong with [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] - sounds fine to me.
Thanks for your thoughts everyone! I agree that since it is the middle and will hardly be used its not that big of a deal. He can always sign his middle initial as well if he doesnt want to use it.
[name_f]IMO[/name_f] we tend to over-think the first name and middle name flow, when what we should be concerned with is the FIRST NAME and LAST NAME as that is how he will be known. [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] C______ will be a great name. The few times that we use all three names is usually only on the birth announcement, government forms, etc. so as adults our middle name isn’t even known to most people. I think you should definitely use [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] C____!
YES [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] is one of my absolute favorites! I second the comment about how it works with the last name, too. I think that’s more important than the middle name. But I do think [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] works more than it doesn’t (I love alliteration). These two names sound different enough that it doesn’t sound overwhelming.
Also, I really like how [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] and [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] sound together!
While I think [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] does not flow in the least, if you think it sounds fine than use it. In my personal opinion [name_m]Beckett[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] flows much much better than [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m]. However if [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] is the name then my opinion should mean very little to you, because he is your son and I am just some nameless faceless person on the internet. That said, I think [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] [name_m]Bear[/name_m] is amazingly adorable!
I don’t think it has the best flow, but you know what? I’m not sure that matters. If you love it, that’s what matters. [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] and [name_m]Beckett[/name_m] are both great names. They sound good together, and they work with [name_u]Emerson[/name_u], so you can’t really lose here.
