I suppose we’re sort of stuck on vowel names, but we could potentially branch out as well. The 4-letter first name is not a total requirement either. We future parents are having a tough time arriving at a name for number 7, so any tips would be greatly appreciated.
With an [name]Okko[/name] and a child with mn Eliel I think you have a Finnish connection? If you didn’t already know, there are quite a few Finnish boys’ names with four letters and a vowel beginning, looking around the internet, and among them my favorites for you are Armo (grace, mercy), [name]Arto[/name] (from [name]Arthur[/name] - I think everyone will spell and say his one right and I don’t think there’s too much teasing potential), [name]Arvo[/name] (value, worth) [name]Eero[/name] (from [name]Eric[/name]), Otso (bear), and Usko (faith). But look around for more if you are willing to explore them and don’t love one of these - there are even more if you’re willing to go with a non-vowel or non-four letter of course : D.
If I’m totally wrong about that and/or you don’t want to go that way…pp gave some good suggestions! I like [name]Eric[/name]/[name]Erik[/name], [name]Evan[/name], [name]Ivan[/name], or [name]Owen[/name] a lot especially.
Also think some good options include
[name]Abel[/name]
[name]Axel[/name]
[name]Arch[/name]
[name]Emil[/name]
[name]Enzo[/name]
[name]Ingo[/name]
[name]Odin[/name]
[name]Olaf[/name]
[name]Olin[/name]
[name]Orlo[/name]
Getting away from vowels, some 4-letters I especially like with your set are
[name]Luke[/name]
[name]Milo[/name]
[name]Seth[/name]
[name]Theo[/name]
[name]Thor[/name]
Some vowel names without 4 letters I like…well, the possibilities get very broad at that point!
I would maintain the 4 letter vowel name pattern you have going. There are some great suggestions above. My favorites are [name]Arlo[/name], [name]Axel[/name], and [name]Ewan[/name]. Good luck!
Thanks so much for your replies. It will be enjoyable to comb through your lists and try different combinations. We’ll post our narrowed list of candidates at some point.
Yes, we do have ties to Finland, as you supposed. Although I did first learn of the name [name]Okko[/name] in the U.S. where I had a classmate by that name who was half Dutch and half American. Apparently it is a derivative of [name]Oscar[/name]/[name]Oskar[/name] in other languages than just Finnish.
Maybe I have another approach for you. Your girls seem to have different vowel names, the boys only o and a.
For a girl, I would look at a different vowel, O or U. I like [name]Orla[/name] and [name]Opal[/name] best of the options mentioned before.
For a boy, I would look into the E or I vowel names. I also like [name]Ivan[/name] and [name]Ezra[/name] to go with your set, and I could also see an [name]Emil[/name].
Since you already have more A - names, I would pass on them for the moment being, unless there is one that you really love of course, then by all means go for it!
Well, I’m back to report we had our son on Weds., [name]May[/name] 4th. On the basis of the suggestions and ideas posted here as well as some other research and culling we did, we came up with a short list. When our boy was born with light and fair coloring, it seemed to suggest a crisp-sounding name as opposed to one that evoked warmer climes. [name]Hence[/name], we decided to name the baby [name]Isak[/name] [name]Elliot[/name]. Thanks so much for your help!
