We will be getting an 8 week old Dalmatian Puppy here in the next few weeks. I’m ecstatic!!
I really want to pick a unique name. Especially not the typical names for dogs and dalmatians. (i.e. Spot, [name]Perdita[/name], [name]Jewel[/name], etc.)
And of course I have to get it ok’d by my bf since it will be our dog.
Some of the contenders so far-
[name]Stella[/name] (was my favorite but he’s from Belgium and says it reminds him of the crappy beer)
[name]Mischa[/name] (is the winner between us so far… pronounced mee-sha)
[name]Penelope[/name]
[name]Belle[/name] ( one of his suggestions but not my favorite)
[name]Poppy[/name] (he hates it)
[name]Greta[/name] (he hates it)
[name]Tess[/name]
[name]Piper[/name]
[name]Mollie[/name]
Definitely open to suggestions! Girls are so much harder to name than boys!
I’m sorry he hates [name]Greta[/name]. It is my favorite. I like [name]Piper[/name] a lot, although it is becoming popular as a pet name, if that is an issue for you. Speaking of that – I would say don’t go with [name]Mollie[/name] because every other dog at the dog park is a [name]Molly[/name]. If [name]Mischa[/name] is all you can agree on, it is good – although – again – it is pretty popular in the pet name world.
See, I have the opposite problem. Girls are easy for me - boys are hard!
[name]Piper[/name] is my favorite, followed by [name]Poppy[/name]. [name]Penelope[/name] is also a nice dog name (we have a foster dog with that name, and she goes by “[name]Penny[/name]”)
As a suggestion, [name]Phoebe[/name] comes to mind, as well as [name]Pandora[/name] (perhaps because of all the P’s!). We had a hamster with dalmation-eque spots named [name]Pandora[/name], and it fit her well.
