[name_m]Hi[/name_m]!
So I’m going to write a story about bunch of teenagers from different universes hanging out and travelling through time and space and I need a last name for one of them.
He is from alternative Russian Empire in the steampunk and sorta witchy kinda gothic world.
He is about 16 or 17, taller than average, very pale, has grey eyes and curly dark hair.
He lives on streets since very young age. He is a thief, he sale things and information, bookmaking is also his sort of things.
He is kindhearted, but also very sarcastic and snarky, sassy person. He is very smart, but not in bookish way, and may be harsh and cruel when it’s needed.
I decided that his first name should be [name_m]Igor[/name_m] - it sounds different, but not too odd, and it’s a good reference to [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Shelley[/name_u]'s Frankenstein.
But last name… I am honestly lost. I thought about Volkov or Voronov (“volk” is wolf in russian and “voron” is raven), but it feels kinda… Obvious? Both too plain and too cool? I mean there is too many Wolfs and Ravens in fantasy and aventure books.
Well, I do want something cool, but in more unexpected way, and I don’t want something obvious like Karamazov or Raskolnikov.
I will be thankful for any help!
I like [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] or [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]. If you don’t like that there’s
[name_m]Dmitri[/name_m]
[name_m]Victor[/name_m]
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m]
Isodor
[name_m]Melor[/name_m]
[name_f]Mila[/name_f]
[name_m]Osip[/name_m] (form of [name_m]Joseph[/name_m])
[name_u]Sasha[/name_u]
[name_m]Samuel[/name_m]
[name_m]Yuri[/name_m]
All Russian surnames end the same way -ov so his nationality would be obvious regardless. I like [name_m]Igor[/name_m] Voronov.
i feel like you’re overthinking it a bit. none of those sound “obvious” to me, but I know little about the Russian language. If you had his last name “[name_m]Wolf[/name_m]” yes maybe that’s obvious but when it’s in a different language it’s not obvious and therefor suits the purpose.
