I’m looking for a name for a teen boy living in Appalachian, Ohio in the mid-to-late 2000s. Here are some facts that might help:
Genre: The story is realistic fiction for the most part, but with some minor elements that could be magical but also could just be coincidence
Brief Plot Description: A young boy is diagnosed with rapid onset Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis and is given a year to live. His father begins planting flowers because the boy always loved to garden and miraculously the boy starts to improve. Years go by and the boy doesn’t die. The boy and his father believe that if he plants a flower every day, the boy will survive. In 2009 the boy’s father is sent overseas to fight in afghanistan and the boy is left in the care of his father’s friend from the war who abuses him to the point where the boy contemplates if it’s all worth it and if he should keep continuing to plant flowers.
Character Description: The boy at the beginning of the story is eight, and by the end is thirteen. He has almost white blond hair, dark gray eyes and is very thin and sickly looking. He loves nature and flowers and he doesn’t have any friends really, but he loves to just spend time lying outside looking at the world.
Names of Other Characters in the [name_u]Story[/name_u]: His father’s name is [name_m]Robert[/name_m] and his mother’s name was [name_f]Helen[/name_f] but she died prior to the story’s start. The man who he is left in the care of is named [name_m]Paul[/name_m] [name_u]Murphy[/name_u].
Names I’m Considering: [name_u]Glenn[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Anderson[/name_m] is what I’m using right now, but I don’t know if I like it. I also really like the name [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. Some names I’ve considered maybe for middle names are [name_m]Jorah[/name_m] or [name_m]Ezra[/name_m].
Please give suggestions as well as your opinion on the names that I’m already considering. Thanks!
