Name for Baby Boy

Hi! I would love some help deciding on a name for my baby boy due in a few months. Our top choice is [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] (nn [name_m]Zach[/name_m]). It’s a name I have loved for years (before I even met my husband) and one that my husband and I have talked about for years for if we ever had a son but I’m starting to have doubts and wondering if it’s dated and is a “dad” name since it peaked in the 80s/90s. Other names we like are [name_u]Owen[/name_u] and [name_m]Caleb[/name_m] but they just don’t feel as meaningful/special like [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] since we have talked about that name for so long. We have a 2 year old named [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] and full disclosure I have major name regret and wish I had named her [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] so I’m a bit scared of making a mistake again and it’s making this process feel really difficult. Thanks for your advice!

I think [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] is a great name! I don’t consider it a ‘dad’ name at all- it’s classic and timeless in my mind.

I would use [name_m]Zachary[/name_m]. It sounds like it’s your #1 name for a boy and always has been- plus, it makes a great brother name to [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f]. It doesn’t feel dated at all and I worry you may regret not going with your all-time love.

Zachary seems like the name for you! It pairs lovely for you and btw I love [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f]! I don’t consider it a “old mans name” I think the nn [name_m]Zach[/name_m] is timeless but also refreshing, it’s a common name that isn’t heavily used now which makes it wonderful in my eyes!

Sometimes overthinking it is the worse thing to do, my suggestion is to have pre planned names that you love just as much (so I recommend ditching [name_u]Owen[/name_u] and [name_m]Caleb[/name_m] if your not as in love) so when you meet your baby boy you’ll be able to see if he is a [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] or maybe a;

  • Josiah
  • Ezekiel (nn [name_u]Zeke[/name_u])
  • Jerome
  • Sebastian
  • Oswald
  • Derrick
  • Reed
  • Arthur
  • Nathanial

Zachary is a great name–one that you clearly love! I think it’s more classic sounding and will never really be dated. [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] totally sounds like a brother for [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f]. It seems like [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] is the name!

I think you should stick with [name_m]Zachary[/name_m]. It goes really well with [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] and I don’t feel it’s dated at all. I know a little [name_m]Zach[/name_m] actually and it’s really nice on him! I also think it’s a name that ages well.

Annabelle is lovely!!! [name_m]Don[/name_m]’t regret it.

Zachary is a nice classic name and if its your favorite, you should choose it. I feel its similar in style to [name_u]Owen[/name_u] & [name_m]Caleb[/name_m]. I could see them as siblings. Maybe keep them in mind for another son?

Zachary is a fantastic name and a solid choice!

Zachary is great - it’s not dated at all in my opinion and is timeless in any case. I also agree with the comments above that it matches very well with Annabelle. Go with what you love.

Since you love [name_m]Zachary[/name_m], go for it. It had a peak in 80s/90s but it was always fairly common so it doesn’t feel dated. It goes well with [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f], too.

@anon25197097 has a little Z@chary!

thanks @ethelmary.
Definitely not dated. My Zachary is delightful. He gets Zach and Zachy by the school girls 🤦🥰 he is charming, intelligent and funny. I feel like it’s a classic but not a bland classic. My youngest is Alexànder.

Obviously I am biased but I’d say go for it. :blush:

Sometimes I joke with my partner, Zach@rys dad and say he was named after Zac Efron :heart_eyes::rofl::rofl::rofl: ( who is actually a Zachàry David Alexander lol!!!) But don’t mind us. That’s just our strange sense of humour in our house :rofl:

When people say their top choice is x, I believe them. Sounds like [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] is your choice!
