Having a hard time with names for baby girl #2. Big sis is Noelle. Not necessarily adamant on having them “flow” well, but I also don’t want them to be too different or clash too much. Typed this super fast last night so I wanted to come back and add context.
Names I really like:
Sabrina
Elsa - the Frozen connection doesn’t bother me, plus the name does, in a way, mean something to me - the ‘El’ is from my name, the ‘Sa’ is from my partner’s name. Wasn’t planned, but we like that about the name.
Genevieve - this is honestly one of the names we are considering for our cat as well lol
Josephine - we really love this (and the nicknames). However, my first daughter is named Noelle Josette, after my late aunt. When coming up with names for this baby, we unintentionally stumbled upon Josephine. I don’t know if it’ll be too much to have Noelle Josette and Josephine as sisters. I’m curious what your thoughts are on that.
I think my problem is that I love each of these names SO much that I don’t know which one to go with and it’s driving me nuts. Also, trying to name a cat at the same time is not helping me lol
[name_f]Noelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] would make such lovely sisters!! I love that they’re similar stylistically and aesthetically but very different in sound and length
Is it a lovely list! [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have preferred nicknames for each? Maybe choosing a favourite from the nicknames might be easier?
I cant choose a favourite either! I think least fav is [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] though… doesnt have the same flowly softness of the others with [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] (if that makes any sense)
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is my favourite but not sure if No&Jo/ Noey and [name_u]Joey[/name_u] going to be an unwelcome thing?
I think [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] - or even [name_f]Sabina[/name_f] (I prefer [name_f]Sabina[/name_f] as I don’t like brine in a name) sound great together for any expected but complementary pairing. [name_u]Or[/name_u] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] which give a very festive and happy feel.
[name_f]Elsa[/name_f] is a bit too much of a repeat for me with both having the possible [name_f]Elle[/name_f] nickname.
So name for me is [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] (and I would choose this on balance as individual name more important to me than perfect sibset). But if the No/Jo thing annoying, I would choose [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] (or Sabina).
Nicknames for [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] have been a little bit more tricky as I’m not crazy about any of them, but I’ve decided I don’t mind Sabi. I totally understand what you mean about [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f].
For [name_f]Elsa[/name_f], I think we’ll probably end up saying “Elsie.”
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] is another one I was having a hard time with because I really don’t like [name_f]Gen[/name_f] or [name_f]Genny[/name_f], but my partner suggested [name_f]Evie[/name_f], which I really like.
For [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], I love [name_u]Jo[/name_u], [name_u]Josie[/name_u], [name_u]Joey[/name_u]. [name_f]My[/name_f] late aunt was named [name_f]Josette[/name_f] and we all called her [name_u]Jo[/name_u] and even [name_u]Josie[/name_u], so I think that will be sentimental for me. Noelle’s middle name is [name_f]Josette[/name_f] after her, and I also am not sure if we shouldn’t use [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] because of that. We weren’t trying to name a second baby after my aunt, it just happened - we both just really like the name.
We call [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] “Noa” for some reason, and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]- if we choose that- will most likely be [name_u]Josie[/name_u] or [name_u]Jo[/name_u], so I think the nicknames are different enough that it won’t bother either of us, luckily!
Ooo ok i think this helps then.
Jo/Josie and [name_f]Evie[/name_f] stand out as leaders.
I love [name_f]Evie[/name_f] for [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]! I’ve met someone using this nickname before so totally works.
Does the repeated “Elle” with [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] bother you?
I would go for [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] then - and also think about [name_f]Posey[/name_f], Phina or Seffie (on top of [name_u]Josie[/name_u] etc) as nicknames.
The [name_f]Elle[/name_f] doesn’t bother me too much. For a while, I actually loved it - my mom’s name has an “el” in it, my name does, and when I had [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] and chose her name, I didn’t even realize I created a pattern. I just adored the name. When we discussed [name_f]Elsa[/name_f], we realized that not only did it have the “el”, it also started with “sa” which is the start of my partner’s name which we loved. However, I do think our names may start to all get jumbled up and that was the reason I started spiraling down a path of trying to come up with other options
[name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] - bright, sparky and charming
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] - sleek, stylish and lovely
I think if I was to take Noelle’s name into consideration, [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] would be my choice [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] or [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] would be charming
[name_f]Noelle[/name_f] & [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] sound like a perfect sister set… and then you can name your cat [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]! Sidesteps the weirdness of [name_f]Josette[/name_f] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] entirely.
I LOVE [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] with [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]. They have the same vintage, feminine feel to me. [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] is a close second for me. Nothing wrong with it at all, I just think it’s a cuter cat name hahaha.
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]- [name_f]Do[/name_f] you use her middle name a lot? If not, I think it’s okay. Also, I have a cat named [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], so there’s another option for you haha.
Would you consider [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] or [name_f]Elise[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Elsa[/name_f]? Both have a similar vibe to [name_f]Noelle[/name_f], in my opinion.
All of these names are beautiful—you can’t make a bad choice!
[name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] is one of my favorites. It feels classically beautiful, reminiscent of the [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] Hepburn movie, and so refreshing on a baby born today.
I love the name [name_f]Elsa[/name_f], and I love the significance it has to you and your partner.
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] is lovely. It’s my favorite out of your list in terms of how it sounds with older sister [name_f]Noelle[/name_f].
I wouldn’t be bothered by the similarity between [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and middle name [name_f]Josette[/name_f]. I think it would be sweet to have both girls with a part of their name that honors your late aunt.
