Name for Baby Sister - Middle name Greer

I thought I would post here as a last ditch effort… We have been trying to find a way to use [name_f]Greer[/name_f] as middle name for baby sister and an “A” name for the first name. But have sort of run into a dead end.

[name_f]Greer[/name_f] is for my husband’s grandmother and the A name is for my grandmother [name_f]Alma[/name_f], and I am due around her birthday! We love [name_f]Greer[/name_f], don’t love [name_f]Alma[/name_f], but I loved her dearly as a person, so trying to find a way to honor her.

Older siblings are [name_m]Marshall[/name_m] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]. Last name is 1 syllable ends in -odd.

[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Greer[/name_f] - Always loved the name, afraid there are too many D’s with combo with last name and [name_f]Addie[/name_f] nn problem (way too many of them)

[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Greer[/name_f] - Seems to match the spunk of [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] but not a long time favorite just a new idea

[name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Greer[/name_f] - [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t love [name_f]Anna[/name_f] but love [name_f]Annie[/name_f]. We named daughter [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] not [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] bc that’s what we wanted her name to be but my husband won’t agree to just name this baby [name_f]Annie[/name_f] so I’m holding out on [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. [name_u]Anne[/name_u] is really short with [name_f]Greer[/name_f] and our 1 syllable last name.

[name_f]Annelise[/name_f] - the [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] tie is too similar I think but I do like this name (my husband won’t go for [name_f]Annika[/name_f] sadly). We can’t seem to find another long name for nn [name_f]Annie[/name_f] that works.

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Greer[/name_f] - seems the best name sake for [name_f]Alma[/name_f], my husband loves it, I struggle liking it.

Popularity is an issue for me, really don’t want to go with something over used currently. Trying to find something classic like my other kids names. And I prefer a name not likely to be nicknamed, there is such a simplicity to my others, just go by their names and that’s it! Which is why [name_f]Annie[/name_f] has been problematic. [name_m]Just[/name_m] love it for some reason on its own.

FYI - I posted another thread ditching the [name_f]Greer[/name_f] all together and using [name_f]Alma[/name_f] as a middle name bc we are running out of time and need to find something we love!

Someone here used [name_f]Olivette[/name_f] [name_f]Greer[/name_f]!

What about [name_f]Ada[/name_f] (either on its own or as a nn for [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f])?
[name_f]Ada[/name_f] is a really good honour for [name_f]Alma[/name_f], and flows beautifully with the middle name [name_f]Greer[/name_f].
I think it also fits your style really well!

Audrey [name_f]Greer[/name_f] is quite nice.

Antonia, [name_u]Andrea[/name_u], [name_f]Anwen[/name_f] or [name_f]Annora[/name_f] could all be shortened to [name_f]Annie[/name_f], if any of those appeal.

Other options of classic, not super popular and not super likely to be nicknamed:
[name_u]Alexis[/name_u] [name_f]Greer[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Greer[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Greer[/name_f]
[name_f]Alana[/name_f]/Alanna [name_f]Greer[/name_f]
[name_f]Astoria[/name_f] [name_f]Greer[/name_f]
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f] [name_f]Greer[/name_f]
[name_f]Adele[/name_f]/Adela [name_f]Greer[/name_f]

I love [name_f]Annie[/name_f]!

Anne [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_f]Alma[/name_f]
[name_f]Arianna[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Greta[/name_f]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Alma[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwen[/name_f]/Gwennie
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Alma[/name_f]
[name_f]Gaia[/name_f]
[name_f]Gala[/name_f]
[name_u]Garnet[/name_u]

Audrey [name_f]Greer[/name_f] is lovely as is [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Greer[/name_f]

Adeline [name_f]Greer[/name_f] nn [name_f]Annie[/name_f]
[name_f]Alba[/name_f] [name_f]Greer[/name_f]
[name_f]Alessia[/name_f] [name_f]Greer[/name_f]
[name_f]Aveline[/name_f] [name_f]Greer[/name_f]

Do you guys think we would have comments about [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] -> [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] from Frozen?
What about the [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] Hepburn -> [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] Doolittle association? [name_m]Just[/name_m] thinking out loud.

Do you think [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] or [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f] go with the sib set? What about [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] with sib set?

How about [name_f]Althea[/name_f]? [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] honour for [name_f]Alma[/name_f].

Marshall, [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], and [name_f]Anabel[/name_f]
[name_m]Marshall[/name_m], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], and [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f]

I love and second [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] or [name_f]Anabel[/name_f] with [name_f]Greer[/name_f] and think you’d probably get less Frozen comments with one of those nn [name_f]Annie[/name_f] or [name_f]Anna[/name_f] / [name_f]Ana[/name_f]. I don’t think the [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]- [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] Doolittle association would get thought of at all. I love [name_f]Greer[/name_f] as a MN- I hope you find something you love for a first!

I ADORE Greer. What a fun, pretty, unique name. It’s just so charming, but I definitely think that you need a soft sounding name with Greer. A is a great choice! I’m also always fond of honor names

From your choices, I like Alice, but if you’re struggling to like it, it might not be for you. Have you considered Allison? Allison Greer is stunning!

Allison is also a fairly uncommon name nowadays, as most Allisons I know are older women. If you’re worried about it being dated, I’m in my early 20s (born in the 90s) and went to school with two Jennifer’s, one who went by Jen and the other by Jenny. They both LOVED their names even though Jennifer was popular in the 70s.

I also think Allison ties Marshall and Eliza together quite well, sharing Marshall’s length and double L and Eliza’s vowel beginning. Allie is also an adorable nickname that would match Eliza in length and spunkiness without losing any of the softness of Alice.

My next favorite is definitely Adelaide! Addie is definitely a popular nickname though, but you can curb that by either giving her another nickname or making it clear she is called Adelaide. I always went by Catherine rather than a nickname, and it was because my mother and I were always very adamant about my name being Catherine. I’ve met Elizabeth’s who have done the same! Ada is a lovely suggestion as an alternative to Addie too.

Adele Greer is another great suggestion. You really can’t go wrong with any of your choices! Best of luck deciding.

I almost suggested [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] on the other post! I love it. [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f] I think would also work.

  • Marshall, [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], & [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f]

  • Marshall, [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] & [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]

Afton [name_f]Greer[/name_f] sounds really nice and goes well with [name_m]Marshall[/name_m] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f].

We love [name_f]Greer[/name_f] too! It just feels so fresh and strong. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] goes with [name_m]Marshall[/name_m] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]? Would [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] be better?

I think [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] goes well with Marshall and Eliza, but I do think [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] works just slightly better. That doesn’t curb the [name_f]Addie[/name_f] nickname much, but I knew an [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] who went by her full name and it was really charming on her! I quite like [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]. Do you intend to pronounce it with the line or lyn ending?

I don’t think you’d hear comments about those associations. I like the [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] one!

I love [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] in the set. [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] is sweet too but doesn’t fit as well with [name_m]Marshall[/name_m] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]. [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] would be better!

I love the suggestions of [name_f]Alba[/name_f] or [name_f]Ada[/name_f]. [name_f]Annie[/name_f] [name_f]Greer[/name_f] is also short and sweet.
