Name for book character

Can you help me with a name for a character in a story I’m writing? He would have been born around 1910 in [name]West[/name] [name]Virginia[/name], Kentucky area and he is a farmer’s son and secret romantic interest of a rich girl from a stuffy family. I want his name to evoke the time period, the place (Appalachia) as well as earthiness and romance. My problem is that every time I think of a name I realize it’s been used by Twilight or some other film like that. Help!!! Suggestions? I’m taking any and all.

Authors don’t own names. [name]Just[/name] because a name has been use in another book/movie, doesn’t make it unusable in other books/movies. If you’ve found a name your like for your character, use it. The only exception is if you make a character like someone elses, and give them the same name.

my suggestions:
[name]Otis[/name]
[name]Hubert[/name]
[name]Wilbur[/name]
[name]Gilbert[/name]
[name]Earnest[/name]
[name]Wallace[/name]
[name]Nathaniel[/name]
[name]Edmund[/name]
[name]Jerome[/name]
[name]Harrison[/name]
[name]Lowell[/name]
[name]Wendell[/name]
[name]Orval[/name]

Thanks for your input lila. I’m not concerned about ownership, just concerned about using a name that stands out and doesn’t conjure up images of those other popular series.

I’m really into genealogy, so I found some men’s names I liked from that period in eastern Kentucky family lines.

[name]Ezekiel[/name]
[name]Cornelius[/name]
Humpert
[name]Alois[/name]

[name]Gideon[/name]
[name]Bartlett[/name]

I haven’t read any of the Twilight books or seen any of the films, so I don’t know if I’m suggesting any of those names… but here goes:
