Name for DS2

We have a son named Arthu.r [name_m]Georg[/name_m].e and are working on a sibling name for him. We want something that matches DS1’s style but also want to prioritize finding a name we truly like over finding the right “match”.

Right now our top choice is Edmun.d nn [name_m]Ned[/name_m] but wanted to see if there were names we’ve overlooked

Other names we’ve considered but don’t feel quite right
[name_u]Dexter[/name_u]- I like but just doesn’t feel like “the” name
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] - disappointed in its increasing popularity which is a factor (for me, less so my husband)
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]- sane feelings as [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m]- I love but my husband does not
[name_m]Rupert[/name_m] - same as [name_u]Dexter[/name_u], doesn’t feel quite right
[name_m]Leo[/name_m]- my husband likes but I know too many
[name_m]Rufus[/name_m] - we both like but not sure if it feels too “out there”- doesn’t help I’ve recently seen a dog or two with this name
[name_m]Felix[/name_m]- love but it’s a close family members pet who I helped to name a few years back. I’m not sure family (or us) would easily ignore this
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m]- I think we like but a little too preppy(?)

Curious if anyone has opinions on any of those mentioned or additional suggestions

Maybe you would like [name_m]Reuben[/name_m]?

Arthu.r and Edmun.d are absolutely perfect as brothers! I love the nickname [name_m]Ned[/name_m], too – cute, but clunky-cool, and with plenty of history.

I really like all of the names on your list, actually, but the other stand-outs for me are [name_m]Rufus[/name_m] and [name_m]Felix[/name_m]. Both feel like such a natural style match for your son’s name, but in a more unexpected way than, say, [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] or even [name_m]Frederick[/name_m].

[name_m]Rufus[/name_m] is definitely not too “out there” to me, but I’m in the UK where this name is much more widely used. It’s got a really cool, gruff, tousle-haired appeal to me and I think Ru(e) for short is fantastic. The similar [name_m]Rupert[/name_m] would also make a great choice but I do prefer rugged [name_m]Rufus[/name_m]!

I know [name_m]Felix[/name_m] is on the rise, but I think its distinctive look and sound still mark it out as a really cool, quirky choice that still feels traditional. The meaning is wonderful, too.

Overall, though, I think my favourite brother for Arthu.r might just be the name you already have in mind! Other options that might appeal are [name_m]Caspar[/name_m]/[name_m]Casper[/name_m], [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m], [name_u]Rex[/name_u], [name_m]Samson[/name_m], [name_m]Magnus[/name_m], [name_u]Theo[/name_u], [name_m]Ivo[/name_m], [name_m]Maxim[/name_m]/[name_m]Maximilian[/name_m], [name_m]Hector[/name_m], [name_u]Corin[/name_u], [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], [name_m]Wilfred[/name_m], [name_m]Emil[/name_m]/[name_m]Emilian[/name_m]…

Thanks for your quick input!

I really like [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] & [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] but both have been used in our close circle for boys my sons age.

It kills me a bit but I don’t think we can use [name_m]Felix[/name_m] - as much as I love it - it’s “taken” by this family pet mentioned and any way I slice it, it just ends up feeling weird. Wish I’d never suggested it for the animal!! I plan to still keep it in my back pocket in case there’s ever a DS3…

[name_m]Ned[/name_m] still sits at the top of the list but I’m going to reconsider [name_m]Rufus[/name_m] more closely, thanks for sharing your thoughts on it.

[name_f]Katinka[/name_f]- I see you’re due in Feb too!

Arthu.r {and} Edmun.d are fantastic together.

Additional ideas:

Arthu.r [name_m]Georg[/name_m].e {and} [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]/[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] {or} [name_m]Walter[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]/[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]

What country let you put periods in your kid’s names.

And why?
