So I’ve started a new story, and I need a name for a planet that is pretty much an exact copy of [name_f]Earth[/name_f]. Like, [name_f]Earth[/name_f]'s otherworldly twin. Any suggestions? Oh, and while I’m asking questions, does anyone know what you would call a person who spreads disease? Thanks
A person who spreads diseases is called Typhoid [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. Unless you’re looking for a medical/scientific term.
Maybe [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] for [name_f]Earth[/name_f]'s sister planet?
I second [name_f]Gaia[/name_f]. It means “earth mother,” which works perfect for your idea.
I love the [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] suggestion. Maybe you could use a name from Greek/[name_m]Roman[/name_m] mythology, since that’s how they name planets.
[name_m]Zeus[/name_m]
[name_m]Hermes[/name_m]
[name_m]Apollo[/name_m]
[name_f]Delphi[/name_f]
[name_f]Juno[/name_f]
[name_f]Hera[/name_f]
[name_f]Minerva[/name_f]
[name_f]Athena[/name_f]
[name_u]Artemis[/name_u]
[name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_m]Vulcan[/name_m]
Hephaestus
[name_f]Terra[/name_f]([name_f]Gaia[/name_f]'s roman counterpart)
Asclepius
[name_m]Bacchus[/name_m]
[name_m]Dionysus[/name_m]
I was thinking of [name_f]Terra[/name_f], but wasn’t sure. What would I call [name_f]Terra[/name_f]'s inhibitors? Terrians? Terrarians?
I’m writing a story about a parallel universe to Earth called Terra, which is just the Latin translation to Earth. Maybe you could do the same with another language.
Earth: Jorden (Norwegian), Terre (French), la Tierra (Spanish)
Life: Enid (Welsh), Haya (Hebrew), Vida (Spanish)
Yeah, I’d go with [name_f]Terra[/name_f], personally. You could call them Terrans. shrugs redrobin above me also had a cool suggestion: try translating “earth” or “planet” into other languages. (But also make sure you aren’t appropriating cultures or being offensive, because that can happen really easily and entirely accidentally when one is translating. ;))
I think I’ll go with [name_m]Terre[/name_m] and it’s people are called Terrans. Thanks everyone!
