We are searching for a distinctive name of Hebrew origin for our third son. His brothers’ names are [name]Asher[/name] and [name]Micah[/name]. His middle name will be [name]Newman[/name]. We are looking for something that strikes the right balance of “Jewish” but not too Israeli or hard to pronounce that still sounds fresh and contemporary to an American ear and isn’t very popular. (Tall order, right?) [name]Eli[/name], [name]Ezra[/name], [name]Levi[/name] are off the list because we feel they are too trendy right now. We would also prefer to avoid names beginning with “A” and “M”. Thank you!
[name]Asa[/name] [name]Newman[/name] would be too cute cute. [name]Abraham[/name] or [name]Abram[/name] nn [name]Bram[/name]. [name]Thaddeus[/name]?
[name]Ezra[/name] was my first thought, but I see that isn’t an option. My second thought was [name]Jude[/name]. I think [name]Asher[/name], [name]Micah[/name], and [name]Jude[/name] are really cute together!
We really liked the name [name]Jude[/name] and considered it for [name]Micah[/name], but were unsure about it for a Jewish child. We asked around for feedback and were basically told to let it go. [name]Shame[/name]. It is a cool name.
I really like the name [name]Asa[/name], but it is too close to [name]Asher[/name]. I like [name]Bram[/name], but husband thinks it’s too weird. Thanks, though!
I love the suggestion of [name]Jude[/name]!
Other ideas:
[name]Asher[/name], [name]Micah[/name], and [name]Josiah[/name]
[name]Asher[/name], [name]Micah[/name], and [name]Jonas[/name]/[name]Jonah[/name]
[name]Asher[/name], [name]Micah[/name], and [name]Samuel[/name] (maybe more classic than [name]Asher[/name] and [name]Micah[/name], but I really like these three together)
[name]Asher[/name], [name]Micah[/name], and [name]Ezekiel[/name] (similar feel to [name]Ezra[/name] but lesser-known–and the nn [name]Zeke[/name] is too cute!)
[name]Asher[/name], [name]Micah[/name], and [name]Isaiah[/name]
[name]Asher[/name], [name]Micah[/name], and [name]Seth[/name]
[name]Asher[/name], [name]Micah[/name], and [name]Felix[/name] (I believe there was a [name]Felix[/name] in the New Testament… the meaning is great, but the Biblical association, maybe not so great–although, he was interested in what [name]Paul[/name] was preaching, if my memory serves me correctly)
[name]Asher[/name], [name]Micah[/name], and [name]Silas[/name]
Good luck!
We are currently considering [name]Tobias[/name] ([name]Toby[/name]) and I love [name]Eben[/name], although my husband thinks it is too odd. Thoughts? Impressions? Thanks.
While I’m not a fan of [name]Tobias[/name]/[name]Toby[/name] due to an association, I really like it for you! I also love the name [name]Eben[/name], not sure if it fits as well with your boys’ names, but it’s nice, so if you like it go for it!
Ooh, I love [name]Eben[/name]! [name]Asher[/name], [name]Micah[/name], and [name]Eben[/name] are really handsome together. I also like [name]Tobias[/name]/[name]Toby[/name], but I like [name]Tobin[/name] a little more. I think [name]Asher[/name], [name]Micah[/name], and [name]Tobin[/name] would be really cute…
I think [name]Asher[/name], [name]Micah[/name] and [name]Tobias[/name] would be awesome - all three names are on my list and I just adore them!
[name]Asher[/name], [name]Micah[/name] & [name]Gideon[/name] was my first ideas.
[name]Asher[/name], [name]Micah[/name] & [name]Solomon[/name]
[name]Asher[/name], [name]Micah[/name] & [name]Boaz[/name]
[name]Asher[/name], [name]Micah[/name] & [name]Theodore[/name]
[name]Asher[/name], [name]Micah[/name] & [name]Nathaniel[/name]
[name]Asher[/name], [name]Micah[/name] & [name]Benedict[/name]
[name]Asher[/name], [name]Micah[/name], and [name]Tobias[/name] are fantastic together.
Thanks for all of the feedback. Have about two months to go. Thinking about [name]Jesse[/name]. Kind of love it…
I love [name]Tobias[/name] / [name]Tobiah[/name] and [name]Eben[/name]. I think [name]Tobias[/name] goes best with your sibset. And [name]Toby[/name] is an adorable nn.
My name is [name]Jessi[/name] and I don’t really care for it at all. I don’t like the fact that it’s unisex. And it’s very common. I don’t think it fits in with your sibest all that well. It also constantly gets misspelled…[name]Jesse[/name], [name]Jessi[/name], [name]Jessie[/name], [name]Jessy[/name], etc. It bothers me so much that I just shorted it to [name]Jess[/name] for work.
My first thought before reading your criteria was [name]Finn[/name]…so after reading your criteria, what about [name]Phineas[/name]?
I knew and [name]Eben[/name] once and he was…not a nice person…
[name]Tobias[/name] and [name]Jesse[/name] are both nice and would fit. [name]Jesse[/name] I think would fit a little better.
[name]Eben[/name] feels a little clunkier than [name]Asher[/name] or [name]Micah[/name]. It’s also a little sing-songy with your last name.
[name]Seth[/name] seems a really natural fit to me.
Good luck!
Personally, one of my favorite Hebrew names is [name]Seth[/name]! <3 There’s also Ezekiel nn Zeke … but Seth is just so handsome! <3
