Name for our baby boy -in desperate need of some help!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there,
Looking for some inspiration for a baby boy name - please help!! Girls we have sorted but can’t seem to find anything we love for a boy. We like names that aren’t traditional (something out of the box is fine with us - like nature names), can have a neat little nickname and are fairly self-explanatory to spell. Combinations with middle name suggestions are also welcome (we have not got that far yet!!)

Our surname name ends in ‘ton’.

So far some ideas that we both don’t mind:
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] - nn “nix”
[name_u]Ari[/name_u]
Fen
[name_m]Fisher[/name_m] (although concerned the nickname will be ‘fish’)

I really like [name_u]Lennox[/name_u] - nn “lenny” but hubby is not so keen.
To give you an idea I also love [name_u]Beau[/name_u] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m] but these can’t be used for various reasons.

We both really liked [name_u]River[/name_u] but given this is now well and truly on the radar with recent celebrity baby namings, the appeal has been lost a bit for us!

Thank you in advance!!

Since you liked [name_u]River[/name_u], a name to consider could be [name_u]Rio[/name_u]. It’s a little unusual and it means [name_u]River[/name_u].

Some suggestions with the nature-esque theme and/or names that remind me of [name_m]Fisher[/name_m]–

[name_m]Archer[/name_m] nn [name_m]Archie[/name_m]
[name_m]Asher[/name_m] nn [name_u]Ash[/name_u]
[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u]
[name_m]Fox[/name_m]
[name_m]Forrest[/name_m]
[name_m]Colt[/name_m]
[name_m]Ridge[/name_m]

You’d be hard pressed to get a nickname out of the shorter names as they sound like nicknames in and of themselves, but I like that about short names. They’re spunky that way. =]

[name_u]Ari[/name_u] is nice

I also like:
[name_m]Fletcher[/name_m] - fletch as a nn is great
[name_u]Finn[/name_u]
[name_m]Bodhi[/name_m]
[name_u]Sterling[/name_u]
[name_u]Barrett[/name_u] - bear
[name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] - sully

[name_m]Coleman[/name_m] maybe, that’s one of the names we are considering if this baby is a boy

From your list my favourite is [name_u]Ari[/name_u]. I tend to like short names so he is called the name you chose, and love, no nickname required. I also like pp’s suggestion of [name_m]Ridge[/name_m] and [name_u]Rio[/name_u].

[name_m]Briggs[/name_m]
[name_m]Turner[/name_m]
[name_m]Euan[/name_m]
[name_m]Nash[/name_m]
[name_m]Gable[/name_m]/[name_m]Gabe[/name_m]
[name_m]Breck[/name_m]

I second [name_m]Fox[/name_m] and [name_u]Rio[/name_u]

Other ideas…
[name_m]Foster[/name_m]
[name_m]Cyprus[/name_m]
[name_m]Tide[/name_m]
[name_m]Casper[/name_m]
[name_m]Soren[/name_m]
[name_u]Quincy[/name_u]
[name_m]Truman[/name_m]
[name_m]Stellan[/name_m]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u]
[name_u]Indigo[/name_u]
[name_f]Pacey[/name_f]
[name_u]Harbor[/name_u]
[name_m]Cove[/name_m]

Maybe Fennec or [name_u]Fennel[/name_u] nn Fen? (As in a fennec fox or fennel seed)

I like [name_m]Fisher[/name_m] from your list. I don’t think it needs a nickname. Seconding the suggestion of [name_m]Archer[/name_m].

Others:
[name_m]Arno[/name_m]
[name_m]Atlas[/name_m]
[name_m]Bennett[/name_m]
[name_m]Falconer[/name_m]
[name_u]Hudson[/name_u]
[name_m]Lev[/name_m]
[name_m]Odin[/name_m]
[name_u]Reeve[/name_u]
[name_m]Thor[/name_m]
[name_m]Wilder[/name_m]
[name_m]Wolf[/name_m]

Thank you - some great ideas here

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all,
Still getting the hang of these threads, but a huge thank you! Some great ideas here and I’m sure if its a “he”, he will end up being called something off your lists. A second opinion is always helpful especially when you have looked for so long you get stuck!

Thanks again and [name_f]Merry[/name_f] Xmas!

I like [name_m]Archer[/name_m] & [name_m]Forrest[/name_m] as well…

Maybe:

[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]/[name_u]Rohan[/name_u]/[name_u]Roan[/name_u]
[name_u]Lionel[/name_u]
[name_m]Todd[/name_m] (means fox)
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m] (type of gem)
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] (means bear)
[name_m]Gavin[/name_m] (means hawk, I think)
[name_u]Brook[/name_u]/[name_m]Brooks[/name_m]

Good luck!
