Name for third babe!

Baby number three, on routeeeee!!! We just found out yesterday so we are only 4 weeks along and yet to know gender, but naturally I’m getting giddy and already thinking about names.

We have two daughters already. Their names are Leni Bloom and Ru Ines. Ru is very unheard of and we get a lot of questions about it. It’s not short for anything- it is her full, legal name. We were going to name her Ruth and have Ru be her nickname but then found ourselves persistently wanting everyone to address her as just Ru and not actually use Ruth… so we wound up naming her Ru. We figured why name her something else if we don’t actually want people to call her that. It also worked out nicely because my fav name was Lou but I was adamant to not have two L names, knowing we’d have a third and I wasn’t committed to a theme. So Ru is basically Lou but with an R :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: We love it and think it’s very unique, and we call her Ruru. If she grows up hating her name or feeling like it will hinder her professionally for some silly reason, she can go by her middle name, Ines.

If we have another girl, which do you like best for our fam?

Frances
Petra
Ezer
Ada

I like [name_f]Ada[/name_f] best as it goes with the short and sweet theme, but [name_f]Petra[/name_f] and [name_f]Frances[/name_f] are both great fits too!

Wowowow, looking like an immediate majority vote for [name_f]Ada[/name_f]! We’ve had it on our list for both pregnancies but never pulled the trigger… maybe it’s finally time!

We worried about it being a bit too vintage/dated for us, but perhaps next to [name_f]Leni[/name_f] and Ru it changes up the vibe

Another vote here for [name_f]Ada[/name_f]. [name_u]Perfect[/name_u] fit with her sisters. Congratulations!

[name_f]Ada[/name_f] is one of my favorite names of all time, so I must vote for her. She works well with [name_f]Leni[/name_f] and Ru. All individual-type names but short and snazzy together.
I also think [name_f]Petra[/name_f] fits the vibe well. I like [name_f]Frances[/name_f] a lot. [name_f]Francie[/name_f] is fab.

[name_f]Petra[/name_f] jumped out to me immediately, because it’s one of my favourites. I like it with your girls as it’s a bit unusual, but not too out there.

[name_f]Ada[/name_f] works too, and I like the feel of [name_f]Leni[/name_f], Ru and [name_f]Ada[/name_f] together. I think the first two pull [name_f]Ada[/name_f] in a different direction, away from vintage and more towards short and spunky.

[name_f]Frances[/name_f] would absolutely work, but it feels a bit more buttoned-up and formal than the other two. Would you use a nn for it? [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] or [name_u]Frannie[/name_u] feel like a better fit.

[name_u]Ezer[/name_u] seems a bit too unusual and perhaps prone to spelling/pronunciation issues.

Oooo I really like these insights and find them super helpful!

I now agree with your point of [name_f]Frances[/name_f] seeming a bit formal compared to the others. We’d definitely refer to her as [name_u]Fran[/name_u] or [name_f]Franny[/name_f] or [name_f]Francie[/name_f], but still leans in a bit of a diff direction.

In my head I still feel [name_f]Ada[/name_f] seems the most different from the bunch, but it does have the same sweet, short sound so I love hearing otherwise from people. It’s a beautiful name and we’ve considered it many times before

[name_f]Petra[/name_f] also lovely. Hard to find a middle with for us :joy: my husband prefers [name_f]Ada[/name_f] to [name_f]Petra[/name_f]

Thank you!!

Ru is lovely!

With [name_f]Leni[/name_f] and Ru, I think I like [name_f]Petra[/name_f] best. It’s got a different end sound and initial, it’s snappy, stylish and international, sharp but warm, distinctive but approachable.

[name_f]Ada[/name_f] would be my second pick - vintage but fresh, short, friendly and bright, but sophisticated too.

Not sure on [name_f]Frances[/name_f] with your set - feels a bit clunky and dusty in this set

I love [name_u]Ezer[/name_u] for you! To me, it has the same cool, spunky and unisex feel as [name_f]Leni[/name_f] and Ru (both of whom have gorgeous names btw!). I also like how unusual it is — like Ru, it’s not one you hear often!

Congratulations! I absolutely adore your girl’s names :tulip:

[name_f]My[/name_f] vote goes to [name_f]Frances[/name_f], I love how she sounds with [name_f]Leni[/name_f] and Ru! Such a fun, quirky and perfectly mismatched set :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I like [name_f]Ada[/name_f] best with your other kids followed by [name_f]Petra[/name_f]. I love [name_f]Frances[/name_f] but don’t think it goes as well so maybe that would be a good pick for the middle, [name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] or [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]?
