name for third baby (first boy)

We have two daughters, [name]Sophie[/name] and [name]Violet[/name]. We recently found out that our third baby is a boy. Boys names are so hard for me! If this baby was a girl her name would have been [name]Annabel[/name], [name]Adelaide[/name] or [name]Ivy[/name]. Here is our boys list so far:

[name]Jack[/name] (my husband LOVES this one and I actually love it very much also but I’m put off by the popularity. I strongly dislike the popularity of our oldest daughter [name]Sophie[/name]'s name so I’m not sure picking another super popular name would be a good choice for me. At the same time, my mind keeps coming back to this name…)
[name]James[/name] (this is my husband’s middle name so I like the connection there. But I don’t like any shortened forms of this name)
[name]August[/name]
[name]Oliver[/name]
[name]Asher[/name]
[name]Sawyer[/name]
[name]Cedar[/name]
[name]Atticus[/name]
I love [name]Henry[/name] so much but my husband says no way :frowning:

I really want to choose a name that flows with my daughters’ names. I want them to sound good when you say them out loud together and I want them to fit together well in terms of style etc. If you have any other suggestions I am open to more ideas. Feeling a bit stumped- I love girls names so much more than boys names… Thanks for the help

I feel the same way you do about [name]Jack[/name]. I have always loved this name, and so do many, many other people  It’s a great name, and if you love it, don’t let its popularity dissuade you.

With that said, I think that [name]August[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name] both fit beautifully with your daughters’ names. I do wonder if [name]Oliver[/name] will go the way of [name]Jack[/name], though? If you are concerned about popularity, that should probably be taken into consideration. [name]James[/name] is also a great fit for your sibset, and there is no rule that says it can’t just stay simply [name]James[/name]. If you don’t call him [name]Jimmy[/name] or [name]Jim[/name], chances are, no one else will.

[name]James[/name] works so wonderfully as a MN, and I think that [name]August[/name] [name]James[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name] [name]James[/name] are wonderful names.

Hey i think patrick and nicholas sound nice with violet and sophie. [name]How[/name] about jackson instead of jack? Or harry instead of henry? [name]Arthur[/name] (artie) is also a nice fit.

[name]James[/name] nn [name]Jack[/name]! [name]Sophie[/name], [name]Violet[/name] and [name]James[/name] are absolutely lovely.
[name]Oliver[/name] is also wonderful and it would continue the six letters in your girls’s names.
[name]Oliver[/name] [name]James[/name] is a nice name (though I don’t know about the reference to [name]Jamie[/name] [name]Oliver[/name]).

I think [name]August[/name], [name]Oliver[/name] & [name]James[/name] would be a perfect fit with your daughters names.
I would use [name]James[/name] as a middle name.

Loving [name]Atticus[/name], [name]Asher[/name], and [name]James[/name]. Many people say they worry about shortened forms of [name]James[/name], I’ve met several Jameses in my life - one of which is my cousin - and none of them are called anything but [name]James[/name]. I love [name]Henry[/name] too! Too bad hubby says no, [name]James[/name] [name]Henry[/name] and [name]Atticus[/name] [name]Henry[/name] would be really nice combos. [name]Tobias[/name], [name]Isaac[/name], [name]Gregory[/name], [name]Edmund[/name], [name]Albert[/name], [name]Alaric[/name], [name]Casey[/name], [name]Samson[/name]? Are some other ideas

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like from the responses, [name]James[/name], [name]Oliver[/name] and [name]August[/name] were the overall favorites from the list for our sibset. I like [name]James[/name] but not sure if it feels like “the name”. Hmmm… Thankfully we have a while until this baby is born so I guess I will just keep on thinking… Thanks for the suggestions also. I don’t tend to like very many boys names so it is making this kind of difficult. I could easily name ten more girls but I can barely come up with one solid boy name that I like enough to use… I would love to hear more responses!

if u want to avoid popularity i would avoid [name]Sawyer[/name] as well. My faves are

  1. [name]Atticus[/name]
    2 [name]Asher[/name]
    3 [name]Oliver[/name]

I really like [name]Jack[/name], also! I don’t think popularity should be a factor, especially since both you and your husband love it! [name]How[/name] about [name]Jack[/name] [name]Henry[/name]?

[name]August[/name] and [name]Cedar[/name] are too weird and I don’t think fit with your girls. My cousin however is named [name]James[/name] (a big family name for us) but goes by [name]Jack[/name]. It’s a very old nickname for it and isn’t often thought of as a nickname for [name]James[/name]. Since your hubby loves [name]Jack[/name] and [name]James[/name] and you love [name]Henry[/name] name him [name]James[/name] [name]Henry[/name] but call him [name]Jack[/name].

I think [name]James[/name] would be perfect! It goes well with your daughter’s names and honors your husband. I love so many of your names like [name]Oliver[/name] and [name]August[/name] as well. I also mourn the popularity of [name]Jack[/name], but I am so happy when I hear [name]Jack[/name] and not [name]Caiden[/name], [name]Aiden[/name], [name]Jaden[/name], etc.

I second [name]Jack[/name], esp. [name]Jackson[/name], and [name]James[/name]. [name]Love[/name] them both and they truly fit beautifully with your girls names.
