Name From a French Movie- What Do You Think?

My husband and I were watching a french movie tonight and one of the characters names was [name]Loic[/name]. They pronounced it Lo-eek, but im guessing around here it would be pronounced how it looks- lo-ick. But I guess I was just wondering in general what you all think of the name!

It’s very fashionable right now. I like its sound-- I like most [name]Breton[/name] names. They’re a bit daring in [name]France[/name] since for a while they were quasi-banned. Gwenael is another.

I really love [name]Loic[/name]–I think it has a great look and sound. There is a 2 year old [name]Loic[/name] in my son’s library storytime group, but it’s a rare name in French-speaking [name]Canada[/name].

I like [name]Loic[/name], but I do think there would be pronunciation problems here in the US. A couple I know just named their baby girl [name]Lois[/name], and I think that is a very sweet girls name that is similar to [name]Loic[/name].

I know a Loïc nn [name]Lolo[/name], which is somewhat common as far as I know.

I think that [name]Loic[/name] is a great import and would work well in the States. I also know a French speaking Loric which I also love.

[name]Loic[/name]'s a great name! I know one who’s a teenager now. I think it is one (like Emeric) that sounds good in both French and English, but retains its ‘Frenchness’ in English.

[name]Loic[/name] was #26 in [name]Quebec[/name] in 2011 (Retraite Québec - Banque de prénoms - there’s probably an option to translate it into english at the top or bottom of the page), and #141 in [name]France[/name]. It looks like [name]Loic[/name] was a really popular choice in [name]France[/name] in the 90s, but is gently falling out of favour again (according to the numbers on behindthename.com).

[name]Rad[/name] name, but too obviously french to be used unless you have a reason to be using french names. Like, if you’re actually French. I think you’d get a little too much flack for it if not.
