Name help! Baby due any day!

I have serious name confusion so any help would be greatly appreciated! [name_u]Baby[/name_u] is due any day now and currently the options stand at:

[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u]
[name_u]Spencer[/name_u] [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u]
[name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] (nn Ted)
[name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_m]Charles[/name_m]
[name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] [name_m]Charles[/name_m]

My lovely grandpa [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] is about to pass away so his name will be in there somewhere, hubby has just thrown me by yesterday suggesting using it as a first name. I’m worrying it’s too old fashioned for a child? Also, nicknames aren’t so great - I really dislike [name_m]Larry[/name_m]!

Surname is [name_u]Logan[/name_u] and we live in the UK. Thanks in advance!

Suggestions of similar names will definitely be considered - this is first baby so no siblings to match.

They are all beautiful names, and good, balanced combinations. I can understand the dilemma…

I would personally keep the honour name in the middle spot, but if you love Lawrence enough it would work as a first name, too. If you have reservations about it being difficult to wear in everyday life though, go with you gut and choose one of the options where it’s not a first. Another nickname option is Laurie (I have one in my extended family and he wears it very well), but while I like it I can imagine you’d possibly find it a bit feminine.

My favourite from your list is Arthur Lawrence.
Edward Lawrence is nice but the names don’t flow into each other very well (my tongue gets a bit muddled up with the -dward Law part).
I like Spencer a little less than your other firsts, but it flows better with Lawrence than Edward.

If you like several options equally, just take them with you to the hospital and see which feels best when your little boy is there.

Edit to add: something else to consider is how the names sound with your last name. Lawrence Logan is a bit repetitive, so be sure you’re ok with that if you pick Lawrence as a first. Arthur Logan, Spencer Logan and Edward Logan all work equally well.
I was about to suggest Sebastian Lawrence which I think is super handsome but… Sebastian Logan is again a bit problematic when it comes to repetition.

Good luck!

[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] or [name_m]Edward[/name_m] would be my pick! They go great with your last name and are fantastic names. [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] is a good middle, and I agree that good nicknames are hard for that name, but it would still be a good first name if you loved it enough.

[name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] ([name_u]Teddy[/name_u] or Ted) and [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] ([name_m]Bear[/name_m]) are my favorites. All of the combos are handsome.

You might like:

[name_m]Warren[/name_m] [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u]
[name_m]Walter[/name_m] [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u]
[name_m]George[/name_m] [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u]
[name_m]Wesley[/name_m] [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u]

Thanks all, your comments are really helpful! I think I’m swaying back to our original favourite of [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] I agree that it flows better with our surname and the nickname options are better too.

[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] is my favorite too

I’m so sorry that your grandfather isn’t well.

I agree [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] kind of old. I strongly dislike [name_m]Larry[/name_m], especially [name_m]Larry[/name_m] [name_u]Logan[/name_u].

I like [name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] [name_u]Logan[/name_u] best. Mostly because love the nickname [name_u]Teddy[/name_u].

I think [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] [name_u]Logan[/name_u] is nice but would it be shortened to [name_m]Art[/name_m]?

[name_u]Spencer[/name_u] [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] is very nice but would people forever be confusing his name, calling him [name_u]Logan[/name_u] [name_u]Spencer[/name_u]? (Also, oddly, I grew up with a very nice boy named [name_u]Logan[/name_u] [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] so maybe I’m more sensitive to it.)

As a fellow UK Resident [name_u]Laurence[/name_u] is this most original- all other options I know at least 2/3 small children with these names. Knew a 6 yr old [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] 10 years ago but feel it is underused classic and generally off the radar.
Nn [name_m]Law[/name_m] or [name_u]Laurie[/name_u]!

Nn [name_m]Law[/name_m] or [name_u]Laurie[/name_u]!

[name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_m]Edward[/name_m] and [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] are my favourites as firsts.

[name_m]Law[/name_m] is my preferred nn for [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u], and I doubt anyone would call a young child [name_m]Larry[/name_m], but I have to say I’m not wild about the alliteration of [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] [name_u]Logan[/name_u], despite the personal significance the name [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] has for you.

[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] would be my first choice, despite its popularity here. I think it’s such a dashing, distinguished, handsome and historical choice. [name_m]Edward[/name_m] is lovely too but feels a little more “standard” than [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], which despite its popularity still feels a little bit quirky. I do [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] Ted/[name_u]Teddy[/name_u] as a nickname though!

I really like [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] [name_m]Charles[/name_m] and would use the nickname [name_u]Ren[/name_u]!
