Hello! We had our baby boy last week on [name_u]August[/name_u] 3. Tomorrow is the deadline to add his name to his birth certificate. We left the hospital with no name! Our list was 34 names long (!). We’ve narrowed it down to 4. We’d appreciate input. The names are:
[name_m]Henry[/name_m]
[name_m]Eli[/name_m]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_u]Theo[/name_u] (just [name_u]Theo[/name_u], not [name_m]Theodore[/name_m])
The middle name will be easy once we choose a first name.
Thanks for all the responses. This has been very helpful. Surname is weird/unusual, and a little harsh sounding. I don’t mind sharing it here. It’s Mangs. So:
If anyone has another first name they think goes with Mangs I’d love to hear it, although I’m running out of time and already having a hard time committing to his name!
Congrats on your healthy baby boy!
I love [name_u]Theo[/name_u]. It’s spunky yet classic and I love how you would use that as a full name.
But go with your gut, and what you like! I also really like your other names.
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] are my favourites as I mentioned before. Now that you have mentioned your surname I prefer [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]. I think [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] Mangs has a nicer flow than [name_m]Henry[/name_m] Mangs and is easier to pronounce (somehow I have to ‘think’ too much when I try to pronounce [name_m]Henry[/name_m] Mangs but maybe that is just me). In my opinion [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] is a great name although for some it might be a popular choice. If you love it, just go for it!
If you’re worried about popularity I wouldn’t use [name_m]Oliver[/name_m].
[name_u]Theo[/name_u] I really like but only use if your ok with having to repeat “not short for [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]”
[name_m]Eli[/name_m] is meh
I really like 3 of your names: [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u]. Not a fan of [name_m]Eli[/name_m]. Which of those 3 sounds best with your surname? If all sound equally good my preference is this order: [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], [name_u]Theo[/name_u].
I prefer [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. I feel like [name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u] should have a longer name to have them, without it they seem more substantial and I’m not sure how well they would age, [name_u]Theo[/name_u] especially. [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] is alright, I just prefer [name_m]Henry[/name_m].
Thank you so much for the help, everyone! My husband has decided that he really loves [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. I also love the name, although I love [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] and [name_m]Eli[/name_m] too. I do think [name_m]Henry[/name_m] goes well with Mangs (pronounced “fangs”). Mangs is an unfamiliar, odd surname and [name_m]Henry[/name_m], being a classic, helps it out.
Now I need to decide on a middle name but we have lots of possibilities!
I love [name_u]August[/name_u] as a middle name but not that his initials would be [name_m]HAM[/name_m]!
