We are expecting and due in 2 weeks! The gender is not known. We have a boy name pretty much set but are having a hard time agreeing on a girl name… I have always liked [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] but don’t want anything that popular for a first name I’ve been a bit stuck on [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] for a while but hubby isn’t really sold on [name_f]Claire[/name_f].
He brought up the name [name_f]Tillie[/name_f] last night after finding an Otillie in his family tree and [name_f]Tillie[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] is growing on me. Our last name is one syllable, starts with S…big brother is named [name_u]Dean[/name_u] and our boy name pick is [name_m]Leo[/name_m] … Thoughts? I like that it’s a bit old fashioned but am a little worried about it being too different and girlish/not aging well. I have considered [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] as a formal name but not sure if that is really our style… I don’t want my baby to dislike her name when she gets older!
I feel like [name_f]Tillie[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] is just a little bit childish. It’s cute on a little girl, but as she grows older, it might not be such a great fit (like, in business and academics). [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] is a lovely name, and will definitely age well. That said, if you don’t love it, don’t use it. [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] is really pretty, in my opinion, and if you just wanted to go with [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] and call her [name_f]Tillie[/name_f], that would be really cute! No matter what, I wish you and the little one all the best <3
I adore [name_f]Tillie[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f], I think it’s lovely. I think [name_f]Tillie[/name_f] is fine on it’s own and that it doesn’t need a full name
I’m not really a fan of [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], but [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] is beautiful.
Some other names with nickname [name_f]Tillie[/name_f]:
[name_f]Ottiline[/name_f], [name_f]Natalie[/name_f], [name_f]Ottilia[/name_f], [name_f]Tilda[/name_f], …
I think [name_f]Tillie[/name_f] is a lovely name. [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] are wonderful options for a full name I think, but if you’re not sold on either I don’t think [name_f]Tillie[/name_f] on her own is all that bad. I’d pair it with a more “grown up” middle in that case though, to balance it out, and for her to fall back on in case she does end up with a job that requires a more formal name. Would you consider [name_f]Tillie[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f], [name_f]Tillie[/name_f] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] or [name_f]Tillie[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]?
adore [name_f]Tillie[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]!!
some fn ideas for [name_f]Tillie[/name_f]:
[name_f]Talullah[/name_f], [name_f]Talitha[/name_f], [name_f]Tilda[/name_f], [name_f]Talisa[/name_f], Tilena, [name_f]Millicent[/name_f], [name_f]Talia[/name_f], [name_m]Attila[/name_m],
[name_f]Tillie[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] is sweet! It gives off a Southern belle vibe which I like a lot.
However, some might argue that it feels a bit childish and though I disagree, if you can’t stop worrying about that you should consider giving her a more mature-sounding middle name (like [name_f]Tillie[/name_f] [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] for example, since you like [name_f]Mae[/name_f]) or a different first name.
If I were you I’d name her [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] (I think [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] is gorgeous and it also has the nickname Oli which reminds me of [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]!) and call her [name_f]Tillie[/name_f].
Oh, and [name_f]Tillie[/name_f] doesn’t feel overly girly to me at all since you mentioned that. Actually, I find it more spunky than both [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] and [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
I think [name_f]Tillie[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] is sweet! [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f]/Otillie, [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] would would be my first thoughts if you want a full name for [name_f]Tillie[/name_f], though I think [name_f]Tillie[/name_f] can stand alone. I love the suggestion of [name_f]Tillie[/name_f] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] too, its the best of both worlds, the fun and spunky [name_f]Tillie[/name_f], and the beautiful [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] to ground it. [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_f]Tillie[/name_f]/[name_f]Mae[/name_f] could also work.
