Name help for second girl!

Our first born is [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], and we both liked that name from the start. However, I like rarer names and he likes more in the Top 10 it seems. I have a few I really like, and am drawn mostly to British influenced names. I’m looking for any suggestions!

Criteria:

  • Our last name is with “L” and is long so shorter names (unless it can be shortened)
  • No names in the top 50 (he won’t go for anything too rare, but I like it!)
  • No names with “C” or “M” as we have a bunch of those in the family

Possibilities:
These are the names I really like… [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] (but not sure with an “L” last name), [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] (not sure if it goes with [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], too similar?), [name_f]Faye[/name_f], [name_f]Hattie[/name_f], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Lilah[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] ([name_f]Tilly[/name_f]) and [name_f]Flora[/name_f]

I hope someone has some ideas and I gave enough of an idea to get my style of name. Thanks in advance!

Natara you could shorten it to [name_f]Tara[/name_f] or [name_u]Ara[/name_u]

[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Alma[/name_f]

[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]
[name_f]Molly[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
[name_f]Vera[/name_f]

[name_f]Renee[/name_f]
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]

[name_f]Ellen[/name_f]
[name_f]Mina[/name_f]
[name_f]Bonnie[/name_f]

I really like [name_f]Lyra[/name_f], I think it could be fine if your last name does not repeat the -ly- sound.

I really like [name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_f]Hattie[/name_f], [name_f]Faye[/name_f] and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] for you

Hello, and congrats! [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] is such a wonderful name.

[name_f]Lyra[/name_f]: YES! One of my all-time favorite names. Dynamic yet melodic, and positively magical. I love alliteration between first and last names, as well. Quick suggestion: If your husband prefers something mainstream, [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] is an equally lovely option at #85.
[name_f]Elowen[/name_f]: Strong, and with a fierce yet flowy feel, but unfortunately I do think it’s too close to [name_f]Elsie[/name_f].
[name_f]Faye[/name_f]: I’m in love with this classic, vintage charmer!
[name_f]Hattie[/name_f]: I adore the spunk and style here, and I think it works beautifully on its own or as a nickname for [name_f]Harriet[/name_f].
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f]: Positively precious, and perfect with [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]. This is my top option for you. It’s familiar without being overused, vibrant, and happy.
[name_f]Lilah[/name_f]: While this name is very sweet, I think that it gets lost in the crowd of [name_f]Leah[/name_f], [name_f]Layla[/name_f], and other similar names.
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]: Upbeat, vintage, and slightly quirky. I think it works really well!
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]: My co-favorite, along with [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]. There’s something so sweet and upbeat about this. It matches [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] so well.

[name_f]Talia[/name_f]/[name_f]Thalia[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] nn [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] ([name_f]Maisie[/name_f] could work as a stand-alone as well!)
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f]
[name_u]Piper[/name_u]
[name_f]Veronica[/name_f] nn [name_f]Vera[/name_f], [name_f]Nica[/name_f]
[name_f]Briar[/name_f]

[name_f]Effie[/name_f]
[name_f]Ayla[/name_f]
[name_f]Juno[/name_f]
[name_f]Esme[/name_f]

I think [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] could work!

Suggestions:
[name_f]Myra[/name_f]
[name_f]Ayla[/name_f]
[name_f]Della[/name_f]
[name_f]Anya[/name_f]
[name_f]Claudia[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Thea[/name_f]
[name_f]Lana[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]

[name_f]Phaedra[/name_f] nn [name_f]Faye[/name_f]?

[name_f]Faye[/name_f] is perfect! Its highly underrated and fits nicely with [name_f]Elsie[/name_f].
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] would be my second choice

I like [name_f]Faye[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Flora[/name_f] from your list. I’d use [name_f]Tilda[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Tilly[/name_f]. It goes better with [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] and is grander. [name_f]Faye[/name_f] is my fave!

I would take off [name_f]Lilah[/name_f], [name_f]Lyra[/name_f], [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] and any “ie” names after [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] unless they also have a long name -for me, makes them both too cutesy.

Other names:

[name_f]Harriet[/name_f] nn [name_f]Hattie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_f]Fleur[/name_f]
[name_u]Piper[/name_u]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
[name_f]Odessa[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Vera[/name_f]
[name_f]Zara[/name_f]
[name_f]Keira[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]

Thanks for your suggestions, my partner’s only like so far has been [name_f]Faye[/name_f] so it’s nice to see all the support for it! I like the combo of the names.

[name_f]Kady[/name_f] (can also be spelt [name_f]Kadie[/name_f] or [name_f]Kadi[/name_f])

It’s short and sweet, has a similar vibe to your 1st born and doesn’t contain c or m.

It might not be very trendy or overused but it sounds classic enough and similar enough to [name_f]Katie[/name_f] that I don’t think your hubby would hate it.
