I’ve decided on the name Bluebird for one of the main characters of my story. The other main character is a boy named Beetle. They are both part of a post-apocalyptic gang that goes by animal names. For Bluebird, I’m not sure if her nickname should be [name]Blue[/name], or [name]Birdie[/name]; and she has a brother who betrays her early on in the story. Her brother’s name might be [name]Robin[/name]. Their is also a leader of the group who’s name I haven’t decided on. I don’t want it to be something obvious like [name]Lion[/name], maybe some sort of mischievous animal. What do you think of all these names?
I think they’re all very intersting. If you were going for unusual, it works! For Bluebird, I think [name]Birdie[/name] would be a cool nickname. There’s an obvious bird theme going on with her and her brother- is that intentional? Either way it works. For the leader of the group, maybe Minx or [name]Lynx[/name]?

I vote for [name]Birdie[/name], too. It’s quirky and cool sounding for a character.
[name]Love[/name] the names you have so far! Very cool. [name]Blue[/name] and [name]Birdie[/name] both work well as nicknames for Bluebird. [name]One[/name] could be her nickname in general, and one could be a nickname used only by certain people? Or one could be a nickname used for certain situations and the other used in other situations? I sort of feel like it would be a shame to discard one.
If you’re looking for a mischievous animal name for the leader [name]Fox[/name], Spider, [name]Crow[/name] or Coyote might work. I think those are all trickster gods in certain cultures.

I like [name]Birdie[/name] as a nickname for Bluebird. For the leader, my first thought was [name]Fox[/name], followed by [name]Falcon[/name], [name]Hawk[/name], and [name]Tiger[/name] (might be kind of a more obvious one, but he could be called [name]Ty[/name], maybe?)
I like the nn [name]Blue[/name] for Bluebird, I think it’s short and sweet. But I do like [name]Birdie[/name] too, I just think [name]Blue[/name] flows better as a nn. As for the brother, if her betrayed her maybe he could be called [name]Fox[/name], as they’re known to be sly? But that’s just an opinion. Some other names for the other boy would be;

My first thought was Weasel for the leader. Or Cobra? Coyote?
I’m not too keen on [name]Robin[/name] for the brother, it sort of drowns in popularity being a ‘real’ name. [name]Crow[/name], Rook or [name]Raven[/name] would be more fitting.
I like [name]Blue[/name] better than [name]Birdie[/name] for your main character.
Are they named by their parents or do they choose their own names? If they choose for themselves, I find it hard to believe that both her and her brother landed on bird names unless they decided to coordinate. I also don’t think any boy choosing an animal name for himself would pick [name]Robin[/name].
