Hello! I’m expecting my third child in [name]November[/name] and so far, my husband and I can’t seem to find names we agree on. I’m really all over the place as far as names go, I don’t think that I have a particular style but my husband likes mostly traditional names with a few odd ones thrown in.
We have two sons, [name]Louie[/name] (3) and [name]John[/name] (2), but aren’t too concerned with sibling sets. Their middle names are family names but we’re thinking we want a completely new and fresh name for this baby without any family names.
I like [name]Winona[/name], [name]Theodora[/name], [name]Luella[/name], [name]Stella[/name], [name]Stellan[/name], [name]Hollis[/name], [name]Sonny[/name], [name]Milo[/name], etc.
He likes [name]Elliot[/name], [name]Arthur[/name], [name]Walter[/name], [name]Christopher[/name], [name]Lily[/name], [name]Genevieve[/name], [name]Mary[/name], [name]Anna[/name] and so on.
I like quite a few of his names but none of them sound like they’re really the one, so any ideas? Oh, and our last name is Mumford.
Your boys have very handsome names! Looks like your OH likes classics whilst your names are more modern??? Based on that, I’ve tried to find egdy, vintage names-
Girl names: you like longer. Maybe you could take his choices and combine:
[name]Marianne[/name], [name]Lilianna[/name]? [name]Vivianne[/name]?
Boy names: I think you agree less here. You want unique, he wants classic. You might choose something with a nickname?
[name]Walter[/name] nn [name]Wally[/name]? [name]Christopher[/name] nn [name]Topher[/name]? [name]Samuel[/name] nn [name]Sammy[/name]?
charlieandperry1 - I really like [name]Molly[/name], [name]Evie[/name], [name]Dexter[/name], [name]Oscar[/name] and [name]Charlie[/name]. [name]Harry[/name] is at the top of our list on names that we love for a boy! I have sisters named [name]Poppy[/name] and [name]Hazel[/name] so it’s funny you would pick both of those!
katespin - We both actually like [name]Vivienne[/name] but I think it’s a bit too posh sounding? He likes the sound of [name]Marianne[/name] but I’m not too sure about it, I think I’d prefer just [name]Mary[/name]. And I actually like just [name]Sam[/name] for a boy rather than [name]Samuel[/name] (which my husband loves).
Hmm…you like more unfamiliar names, while he likes fairly familiar ones. I suggest looking at Biblical names that have a history and are recognizable, but yet are fairly uncommon in today’s generation, like:
Hey, checking back in: I don’t think [name]Vivienne[/name] is too posh sounding! [name]Louie[/name], [name]John[/name] and [name]Vivienne[/name] would look like a family who is embracing a first daughter with a girl name. [name]Vivianna[/name] I think is pushing it.
For a boy name, I think you should go for [name]Charles[/name]/[name]Charlie[/name], the other person’s suggestion. Super cute, super classy.
We do like [name]Vivienne[/name] as I said so we’ll see if we find a name that surpasses it!
As for [name]Charlie[/name], it’s pretty high up on our list. We really love [name]Harry[/name], [name]Sam[/name] and [name]Charlie[/name] for boys. Neither of us care much for [name]Charles[/name] though so it would just be [name]Charlie[/name].
alzora - I absolutely love [name]Alistair[/name] but my husband doesn’t, unfortunately. Same goes for [name]Albert[/name] and [name]Naomi[/name].
Of your choices I like [name]Stella[/name] best. I know it’s pretty popular right now, but I have yet to meet one. [name]Louie[/name], [name]John[/name] and [name]Stella[/name] sounds great!
Firstly, love your sons names… I think they’re both divine but I particularly like [name]John[/name] [name]Kieran[/name]! I think I like it because my grandfather was a [name]John[/name] & I’m a [name]Keira[/name] ha. Anyway, back on topic
I like [name]Winona[/name] & [name]Milo[/name] from your list. And [name]Anna[/name] & [name]Walter[/name] from his.
Maybe try & find something that has a vintage feel with the life of a more modern name to try to suit both your styles?
Some suggestions are:
Girls: [name]Marlow[/name] ([name]Lola[/name] or [name]Marli[/name]), [name]Keira[/name], [name]Imogen[/name], [name]Claudia[/name], [name]Juliet[/name], [name]Alanna[/name]/[name]Allana[/name]/[name]Alana[/name], [name]Bronte[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name] ([name]Ella[/name] or [name]Norah[/name]), [name]Eloise[/name], [name]Louisa[/name], [name]Serena[/name]
Boys: [name]Marlow[/name] ([name]Marley[/name]), [name]Keiran[/name], [name]Charles[/name] ([name]Charlie[/name]), [name]Oliver[/name] ([name]Olly[/name]), [name]Oscar[/name], [name]Felix[/name], [name]Pierre[/name], [name]Miles[/name] ([name]Milo[/name]), [name]Edward[/name] ([name]Teddy[/name] or [name]Eddie[/name]), [name]Theodore[/name] ([name]Theo[/name] or [name]Teddy[/name]), [name]Flynn[/name], [name]William[/name] ([name]Liam[/name] or [name]Will[/name])
