My husband and I are having a lot of difficulty picking a name for our little one. With our son, it wasn’t an issue at all. However, we have no idea with our second baby. The ultrasound technician told us she thinks we’re having a girl this time. We want to select a name that we both like and has an appropriate meaning behind it. With our son, we struggled through infertility and prayed for a healthy baby nightly so named him [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]. Before this baby, our family went through a big move and found out that I became pregnant unexpectedly. We were told it wouldn’t happen without help. We’re wanting a name that means God provides or the [name_m]Lord[/name_m] in my strength. Something along that line. Any ideas? I like [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] but can’t have [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] and [name_f]Hannah[/name_f].
Congratulations! My personal favorite suggestion would be [name_f]Gianna[/name_f] which means “The [name_m]Lord[/name_m] is gracious”. I think it’s a beautiful name and would work wonderfully with [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]. I think [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] or some variation of that would be a great option as she was thought barren until she was blessed with [name_m]John[/name_m].
Some other suggestions are
[name_f]Annette[/name_f], [name_f]Annalie[/name_f]- The [name_m]Lord[/name_m] has favored me
[name_f]Siobhan[/name_f], [name_u]Joan[/name_u], [name_f]Giovanna[/name_f], [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] - The [name_m]Lord[/name_m] is gracious
I like [name_f]Gianna[/name_f]. I also like [name_f]Eliana[/name_f], which means my god has answered, [name_f]Briella[/name_f], which means God is my strength, [name_u]Azariah[/name_u], which mean helped by god, gabriella or gabby, which means god is my strength, [name_f]Liya[/name_f], or [name_f]Leah[/name_f], which means I am with god, or [name_f]Anya[/name_f], which means grace like [name_f]Hannah[/name_f], as well as the names [name_f]Carissa[/name_f] and anna, which sounds a lot like [name_f]Hannah[/name_f]. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] it helps!
You can do [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. Since you can’t do [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] because [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] is [name_m]Samual[/name_m]'s mother, [name_f]Anna[/name_f] is a good solution. It means the same thing, sound alike, both are hebrew, and anna is a form of hannah. so will anna work?
Right off the bat I have to suggest [name_f]Gabriella[/name_f]/[name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f]. It means “God is my strength” and I think it matches very well with [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]. Its also seems to have many of the popular elements without feeling overused or too popular.
Other names I like as well:
[name_f]Elise[/name_f] “Pledged to God”
[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] (cute nn of [name_f]Dottie[/name_f]) “gift of God”
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] “God’s gracious gift”
These could also take the mn place and still contain the beautiful meaning you wish to pass on to your daughter!
[name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f]/[name_f]Gabriella[/name_f] & [name_f]Brielle[/name_f]/[name_f]Briella[/name_f] - thought I’d combine them because they have the same origin, meaning, God is my strength.
[name_f]Valentina[/name_f] - meaning strength and health, or [name_f]Valencia[/name_f], meaning strength and bravery
[name_f]Abigail[/name_f] - used often by families with infertility issues, meaning my God is joyous
[name_f]Dina[/name_f]/[name_f]Dinah[/name_f] - the long awaited daughter of [name_f]Leah[/name_f], meaning God will judge
[name_f]Raphaela[/name_f]/[name_f]Rafaella[/name_f] - nice choices meaning God has healed
Congratulations! [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps
[name_f]Gabriela[/name_f]: “God is my strength” - pretty much what you’re looking for
[name_f]Michaela[/name_f]: “who is like God”

[name_f]Isabel[/name_f] / [name_f]Isobel[/name_f]: “pledged to God”
[name_m]Samuel[/name_m] and…
[name_f]Anna[/name_f] (grace)
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] (gracious, God is my oath)
[name_f]Eliora[/name_f] (the [name_m]Lord[/name_m] is my light)
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] (God is my oath)

[name_f]Jana[/name_f] (God is gracious)
[name_f]Johanna[/name_f] (God is gracious)
