Name help!

I am due with a boy in [name_u]November[/name_u]! MY new last name will be [name_u]Walker[/name_u]. I want to name the baby after my grandad in some capacity - his name was [name_m]Gordon[/name_m] [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] [name_u]Davis[/name_u].

Please help me come up with a creative way to honor my grandad as well as make the name fun and fresh!

Congratulations

[name_m]Gordon[/name_m] means ‘hill’ and there are plenty of others with a similar meaning so you could go that route ~
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u]
[name_m]Boden[/name_m]
[name_m]Elden[/name_m] (also includes elements from [name_m]Gordon[/name_m] and Elliott)
[name_u]Harlow[/name_u]
[name_u]Lindon[/name_u]
[name_u]Winslow[/name_u]
(+ more on nameberry if you use the advanced search, I just picked my favourites)

[name_u]Or[/name_u], names that also start with G and end with N ~
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m]
[name_u]Griffin[/name_u]
[name_u]Grayson[/name_u]

You could use the same initials, GED, or use [name_u]Davis[/name_u] (was this a middle or surname?) as a first or middle.

Another option I really like with honours is to use the person’s birth month/day/place or favourite colour/plant/place/etc as inspiration

[name_m]Gideon[/name_m]
[name_m]Geordie[/name_m]
[name_u]Jordan[/name_u]
[name_m]Garrett[/name_m]
[name_m]Gethin[/name_m]
[name_m]Donovan[/name_m]
[name_u]Ellis[/name_u]
[name_m]Otto[/name_m]
[name_m]Edwin[/name_m]
[name_u]Emmett[/name_u]
[name_m]Elio[/name_m]
[name_u]Everett[/name_u]
[name_m]Otis[/name_m]
[name_u]Golden[/name_u]
[name_u]Denver[/name_u]
[name_m]Gavin[/name_m]

Hello and welcome! Congratulations on baby boy! :blue_heart:

Here’s a few mixes:

[name_m]Elian[/name_m] [name_m]Gordon[/name_m] [name_u]Walker[/name_u]

[name_u]Davis[/name_u] [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] [name_u]Walker[/name_u]

[name_u]Davian[/name_u] [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] [name_u]Walker[/name_u]

[name_m]Gage[/name_m] [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] [name_u]Davis[/name_u] [name_u]Walker[/name_u] (that way baby boy has his own name but the same first initial)

[name_m]Gregory[/name_m] [name_m]Gordon[/name_m] [name_u]Walker[/name_u]

[name_u]Gray[/name_u] [name_u]Elijah[/name_u] [name_u]Davis[/name_u] [name_u]Walker[/name_u]

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] these suggestions help!

Eliot* [name_u]Davis[/name_u] feels quite trendy. As does [name_u]Eliot[/name_u] or [name_u]Davis[/name_u] with Gordian as a middle name.

*Or [name_u]Elliott[/name_u], or [name_u]Elliot[/name_u], or [name_u]Eliott[/name_u]

[name_u]Ezra[/name_u], [name_u]Eli[/name_u] & [name_u]Elias[/name_u] all have similar meanings to [name_u]Elliot[/name_u], I think [name_u]Eli[/name_u] [name_u]David[/name_u] or [name_u]Ezra[/name_u] [name_u]David[/name_u] would be lovely.

Congratulations! :dizzy:

So I would pick one of the three names for a first or middle for your son, either just use the name itself outright (Gordon, Elliott or Davis - I would only use Elliott as a first, esp with the last name Walker, but all three could be a middle) or else use a twist on the name - eg Ellias (Ellie-us), Elias (Ee-lie-us), Elijah, Eli, Ellis etc.

I would probably only use, for eg, David as a middle. It’s a bit dated. Same for Jordan. In fact, for both of these, I would just use Davis or Gordon (as a middle name). In other words, I prefer the originals to the reworkings.

@persephonescrown has come up with additional and more creative options - you could also use their place of birth if it’s a nice name; my two cents is just to honour him via one name not the entire name if that’s what you were thinking (probably not thinking this but just in case!).

[name_f]My[/name_f] first thoughts would be use your Grandads initials GED I’more familiar with [name_m]Jed[/name_m] as a name but [name_m]Ged[/name_m] spelt this way is a name too, meaning Spear Strength. I think ts fresh and would be an unusual first name but work well in the middle spot too! 1 syllable names always work well in the middle. All the best woth your precious new arrival!!!
