20 weeks pregnant and don’t know the gender
But had Freya listed as a girls name. Now my brothers sister in law has named her child Freyda.
It’s too close isnt it? Freya needs to go off our list?
How is [name_f]Freyda[/name_f] pronounced? Fray-duh? Free-duh?
Still, either way, ‘brother’s sister in law’ feels far enough removed for me that it’s fine to use [name_f]Freya[/name_f] (unless you’re seeing them very regularly) and [name_f]Freya[/name_f] is also familiar enough that it wouldn’t feel like copying in the slightest.
I think this means they’ll each be cousins cousins (share your bro’s kids as cousins) but not blood related? Unless you’re seeing them every month for eg, and even then, I don’t think this is a close enough situation to worry about. I would keep Freya on you list!
I think [name_f]Freya[/name_f] is still usable!
Some other suggestions:
[name_f]Linnea[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f]
[name_u]Esme[/name_u]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Idony[/name_f]
[name_f]Idonea[/name_f]
[name_f]Sonia[/name_f]
[name_f]Thora[/name_f]
[name_f]Amara[/name_f]
[name_f]Imelda[/name_f]
[name_f]Amalia[/name_f]
[name_f]Cosima[/name_f]
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f]
[name_f]Saskia[/name_f]
[name_f]Tamsin[/name_f]
[name_f]Elowen[/name_f]
I know it’s not the exact same, but my niece and I have similar first names, and the same middle and last name. Granted, our age difference is 22 years…
For example, let’s say…
[name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_f]Annette[/name_f] [name_f]Nicole[/name_f] [name_m]Barker[/name_m]
And my niece is [name_f]Lynnette[/name_f] [name_f]Nicole[/name_f] [name_m]Barker[/name_m]
In the case of [name_f]Freyda[/name_f] & [name_f]Freya[/name_f], I would say it’s ok to use, if the kiddos have different last names. [name_m]Just[/name_m] because they’re so close in age, may end up in the same social circles or schools (even if you don’t live near each other now, you may in the future).
If only they had chosen the spelling [name_f]Freida[/name_f]! I would 100% say [name_f]Freida[/name_f] & [name_f]Freya[/name_f] are ok, no matter the last name!
If [name_f]Freyda[/name_f] isnt your childs cousin I would say its fine.
I love [name_f]Freya[/name_f]! I think it’s beautiful. But I also understand your concern. [name_f]My[/name_f] daughter is [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]. Her cousins have a cousin named [name_f]Annalee[/name_f]. They occasionally say the wrong name to us, and sometimes over the years, like birthday parties, both girls have been there at the same time. It’s not horrible, just a very small issue every so often. If you think that will bug you, keep looking. If you love the name, go for it!
I think it depends on if you will ever see each other often, like once a year or more or talk on the phone more than a few times a month.
If so how about:
Isla
Olympia
Francesca
Holly
Anya
Sophie
Maya
Fia
Elysia
Zariah
Evie
Gloria
Ophelia
Fiona
I don’t think it needs to be off your list! Your brother’s kids will have cousins with similar names, but that’s okay. I have a cousin on my dad’s side and on my mom’s side named [name_f]Amanda[/name_f], but I think it would be silly for one side to not choose the name because of my family having two cousins with the same name (especially since my cousins named [name_f]Amanda[/name_f] have maybe only ever been to the same event a handful of times, like my wedding). If your niece was [name_f]Freyda[/name_f], then I would say it’s too close, but the cousin of your kid’s cousin doesn’t make a difference in my book You child will likely never see the [name_f]Freyda[/name_f], except maybe at birthday parties for your brother’s kids. [name_f]My[/name_f] sister-in-law has a nephew (on the other side) named [name_m]Luke[/name_m], but that wouldn’t stop me from using [name_u]Luca[/name_u] because my kids will rarely if ever see [name_m]Luke[/name_m]. Hopefully that’s not too jumbled, but long story short, their lives will unlikely affect each other, so I think it’s 100% okay to still is [name_f]Freya[/name_f] 🩷
Thank you! Great to have some views! They are pronouncing it fray da
We live in a small community but it would only be parties and family gatherings….may attend the same school but yes different surnames!
Maybe I am over thinking it! Staying on the list for now. Thanks again x
They are pretty close and being a person who has a brother named [name_u]Joseph[/name_u] as well as a first cousin also named [name_u]Joseph[/name_u] I know that growing up they both disliked this arrangement and so at family reunions as well as outside of them relatives always referred to the 1st [name_u]Joseph[/name_u] by his middle name only and the 2nd [name_u]Joseph[/name_u] was called [name_u]Joe[/name_u]. So maybe it would be best to take [name_f]Freya[/name_f] off the list or use it as a middle name instead. Here is some other names like [name_f]Freya[/name_f]:
