The Name [name_m]Hunt[/name_m] came to an end first thing this week when our little gal made her appearance!
My husband and I had been playing the “Bathroom Mirror Post-It Notes [name_u]Baby[/name_u] Naming Game” for weeks, taking turns ordering our top favorite names, top favorite combos, booting our least favorites to the “discard pile” at the bottom of the mirror, and occasionally adding a new name or combo (my husband said these were “expansion packs”!). He had taken the last turn before I went into labor. I grabbed the notes with his top-ranking combos and stuffed them into the hospital bag on the way out the door.
I had been quite concerned that if we didn’t have a name chosen beforehand, we might still be stuck not knowing what to pick after she was born. Fortunately, once she arrived it didn’t take long for us to decide which finalist was the right one for our baby: [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] Nivika [name_f]Rose[/name_f]!
At the beginning, I had really wanted [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] and my husband wanted [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]. It took a lot of searching, negotiating, and Post-It Note gaming for each of us to come around to this compromise option. Her middle name is a third-generation honor name that gets an update each time it’s used: stand-alone 1950s name [name_u]Niki[/name_u] was changed to [name_f]Nicole[/name_f] in the 1980s, and now it becomes Nivika in 2015. (Etymologically, Nivika is not related to the [name_f]Nicole[/name_f] variants. It is, however, Norse, just like our family heritage! Pronounced NIV-ih-kuh). We added [name_f]Rose[/name_f] to the end partly because it was on my husband’s original list – and mostly because the big brothers desperately wanted to name her for the [name_m]Doctor[/name_m] Who character.
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f]'s name was quite a long time coming, but we’re ever so pleased now that she’s here and it suits her so well (I think that even if my husband had ever come around to [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f], I might have switched to [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] once I “met” her anyway!). Thanks to all the Berries for the wonderful discussion, ideas, and hashing over my latest obsession, throughout the past several months. It really did take the “journey” to see where we ended up!
Congratulations! Her name is beautiful just like her; I’m usually not fond of two middles because the flow isn’t always great, but this combo is lovely. It’s wonderful to see family traditions continue in their own way.
Congratulations! I love the name [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], and I am so happy to hear you chose a name both you and your husband love.
She is absolutely beautiful!
She looks so precious and I love her name! I didn’t comment much, but I sometimes looked at the ‘Name [name_m]Hunt[/name_m]’ threads you have, and I must say this is a gorgeous combo!
Congratulations!!! She is adorable and her name, of course, is perfect! Good job! I’m so glad you went with [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], it fits perfectly with her sisters!
BEST NEWS [name_u]EVER[/name_u]!!! Congratulations, @saracita!! You chose a beautiful name and all of your kids will definitely be able to say that a lot of thought was put into their naming! So excited for you and your brood
Congratulations, [name_f]Sara[/name_f]! I’ve been locked out of Nameberry for essentially over a week now, so your PM brought me here once I actually got in. [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] Nivika [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is gorgeous, and fits so well with your other ones! And my oh my is she adorable. C@spian, Zeph@n, Ev.e, Peregr!ne, Dulc!ne@, and [name_u]Georgi[/name_u]@ is perfect! So happy for you!
(Any regrets on not using [name_f]Constance[/name_f]?)
