Name ideas for baby boy!

We found out we’re expecting a second boy. I had plenty of girl name ideas but now I’m stumped. We are a half Italian / half American family living in the US but with family in [name_f]Italy[/name_f] and ideally want a name that can “work” in both places.

Here’s out list, can you suggest favorites or other ideas? I’m open to anything at this point, even if it has no Italian equivalent. Note that brother is named [name_m]Matteo[/name_m]. His name has worked really well since it’s so familiar in the US - mostly due to the Spanish [name_m]Mateo[/name_m], but still, at the doctor, preschool registration, etc. no one stumbles or has to look twice at the name. It feels like we gave him a name that will not make his life overly difficult, which makes me happy. Some on the list below would be more difficult. I’m debating between going with an Italian version of a name for consistency vs. a more [name_f]English[/name_f] one / [name_f]English[/name_f] spelling. [name_m]Rafael[/name_m] and [name_m]Leonardo[/name_m] are out due to use in immediate family. Something like [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] could be perfect but I know so many little ones with this name that it has lost its appeal.

[name_m]Dominic[/name_m] / [name_m]Domenico[/name_m]
[name_m]Nathan[/name_m]
[name_m]Vincent[/name_m]
[name_m]Robert[/name_m] / [name_m]Roberto[/name_m]
[name_u]Gabriel[/name_u]
[name_m]Samuel[/name_m]
[name_m]Simon[/name_m]
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m] / [name_m]Alessandro[/name_m]
[name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] / [name_m]Lorenzo[/name_m] / [name_u]Laurence[/name_u]
[name_m]Lewis[/name_m]
[name_u]Nico[/name_u] / [name_m]Nicolo[/name_m] / [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] / [name_m]Nicolas[/name_m]
[name_m]Desmond[/name_m]
[name_m]Wesley[/name_m]
[name_m]Augusto[/name_m] / [name_u]August[/name_u]
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m]
[name_m]Diego[/name_m]
[name_m]Pietro[/name_m]
[name_m]Joel[/name_m]
[name_u]Eli[/name_u] /Elias
[name_m]Jonas[/name_m]
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]
[name_m]Isaiah[/name_m]
[name_m]Tommaso[/name_m]

Antonio
[name_m]Daniel[/name_m]
[name_m]Romeo[/name_m]!
[name_u]Armani[/name_u]
[name_m]Marino[/name_m]
[name_m]Vito[/name_m]
[name_m]Enzo[/name_m]
[name_m]Bruno[/name_m]

I like [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m], as it has a lot of different nicknames, and it ages really well.
I also liked [name_m]Diego[/name_m] and [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]. I associate different things with a lot of these names so my opinion may be a little biased lol

I like [name_u]Gabriel[/name_u], [name_m]Nicolo[/name_m]/ [name_m]Nicolas[/name_m], and [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m].
Suggestions:
[name_m]Elio[/name_m]
[name_u]Jasper[/name_u]
[name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_m]Jacob[/name_m]
[name_m]Damian[/name_m]
[name_u]Luca[/name_u]
[name_m]Orlando[/name_m]
[name_m]Marcel[/name_m]/ [name_m]Marcello[/name_m]
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m]

I think [name_m]Nicolas[/name_m] is a great option for you. It’s basically the same in [name_f]English[/name_f], but [name_u]Nico[/name_u] sounds so Italian. I also really like [name_m]Diego[/name_m], and that plays well in the US for the same reasons as [name_m]Matteo[/name_m]. I think, if you prefer it, you should go with the more Italian name. It reflects his roots, and can always be shortened.

What about:
[name_m]Franco[/name_m]
[name_m]Emilio[/name_m]
[name_m]Emil[/name_m]
[name_m]Enzo[/name_m]
[name_u]Rocco[/name_u]
[name_m]Roman[/name_m]
[name_m]Maximo[/name_m]
[name_m]Alessandro[/name_m]

Sorry for any repeats but here are some of the Italian names I love that seem familiar international and recognizable

Emilio
[name_m]Marco[/name_m]
[name_m]Paolo[/name_m]
[name_u]Sal[/name_u]/ [name_m]Salvatore[/name_m]
[name_m]Vitale[/name_m]
[name_m]Vito[/name_m]
[name_m]Adrian[/name_m]
[name_m]Gino[/name_m]
[name_m]Dante[/name_m]
[name_u]Rocco[/name_u]
[name_m]Bosco[/name_m]
I really like [name_m]Matteo[/name_m] and I don’t know if you care about alliteration or repetition of the o ending.

From my suggestions I love [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] and [name_m]Bosco[/name_m] , [name_m]Marco[/name_m] and [name_u]Sal[/name_u]

Gabriel, [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] and [name_u]Elias[/name_u] are perfect

One of my favorite boy names of all time is [name_m]Celio[/name_m]/Elio, both Italian originally!! [name_m]Celio[/name_m] also means sky, which is honestly a lovely meaning

I love [name_m]Vincent[/name_m], [name_u]Nico[/name_u], and [name_m]Lorenzo[/name_m]! I also love

Luca (perfect alternative to [name_m]Lucas[/name_m]!)
[name_m]Mateo[/name_m]
[name_m]Giovanni[/name_m]
[name_m]Enzo[/name_m] (first name i think of in terms of italian)
[name_m]Dante[/name_m]
[name_u]Rocco[/name_u]

From your list I really love in no particular order:

Nico
[name_u]Elias[/name_u]
[name_m]Desmond[/name_m]
[name_m]Augusto[/name_m]/August
[name_m]Diego[/name_m]

I think these ones go well with your sons name too! Good luck

Agreed! I really like both of those!

@hellobanjo @elffff @greengoddess624 @Ehrob1

I’ll fourth [name_m]Enzo[/name_m] and third [name_m]Emilio[/name_m]

Sebastian, [name_m]Lorenzo[/name_m]/Enzo, [name_u]Gabriel[/name_u],[name_m]Desmond[/name_m], are my favorite on your list

Please consider repeats as seconds

[name_m]Damon[/name_m]
[name_m]Nikolai[/name_m] “[name_u]Niko[/name_u]”
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m]

How about
[name_m]Elio[/name_m]
[name_m]Emiliano[/name_m]
[name_m]Enzo[/name_m]
[name_u]Luca[/name_u] instead of [name_m]Lucas[/name_m]?
[name_m]Fausto[/name_m]
[name_m]Mario[/name_m]
[name_u]Theo[/name_u]
[name_m]Tobias[/name_m]
[name_m]Pablo[/name_m]
[name_m]Roberto[/name_m]
Sabato (sonny)
Juilan
[name_m]Aurelio[/name_m]
[name_m]Helio[/name_m]
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u]
[name_m]Carlo[/name_m]
[name_m]Leo[/name_m]
[name_u]Micha[/name_u]
[name_m]Angelo[/name_m]! :white_heart:
I think [name_m]Matteo[/name_m] and [name_u]Luca[/name_u] would be a nice brother pair.
[name_m]Matteo[/name_m] and [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] /Nico also sound great

I also love Georgio

Domenico, [name_m]Alessandro[/name_m], [name_m]Tomasso[/name_m] & [name_m]Lorenzo[/name_m] are my favorites. I think they’d each work well with the sibling’s name, and would be easy to pronounce in both countries. Also you could use [name_u]Nico[/name_u] as a NN for [name_m]Domenico[/name_m].

Some of my Italian favorite names:
[name_u]Gianni[/name_u]
[name_m]Giovanni[/name_m]
[name_m]Giacomo[/name_m]
[name_m]Antonio[/name_m] ([name_m]Tonio[/name_m])
[name_m]Salvatore[/name_m] ([name_u]Sonny[/name_u])
[name_u]Rocco[/name_u]
[name_u]Luca[/name_u]

Favourites:
[name_m]Dominic[/name_m]
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m]
[name_m]Lewis[/name_m]
[name_u]Nico[/name_u]/Nicholas/Nicolas
[name_u]August[/name_u]
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m]
[name_m]Joel[/name_m]

Just wanted to say that I love the idea of [name_m]Emilio[/name_m]. I think [name_m]Emilio[/name_m] is such a handsome romantic sounding name. Also it’s definitely easy to say in both [name_f]English[/name_f] & Italian but feels distinctively European like [name_m]Matteo[/name_m]. I think [name_m]Emilio[/name_m] & [name_m]Matteo[/name_m] make fabulous brothers!

Congrats :tada::tada:

Laurence is perfect

A late thank you to everyone for your responses and ideas!

(Shortly after I posted this question I had some pregnancy complications so I needed to take a mental break from names, but all is well and I am getting back into thinking about this some more  )

I love [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] - perfect fit for your family and a beautiful name. [name_m]Lorenzo[/name_m] also nice. Best wishes.
