I’m quite new here, and am pregnant with my first child. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I have decided not to find out the sex until birth, but we are having a hard time of it when it comes to names, especially boy names! [name_f]My[/name_f] husband is part Armenian, so he is very keen on having an Armenian name if it’s a boy–but we have a few non-Armenian options and aren’t opposed to them. He’s also the “I need to see all the options before I make a decision” kind of guy. I’m just wondering if there are any name suggestions based on our list that we might not have thought of Our last name starts with an H, and ends in the very typical “ian” fashion. It’s either two or three syllables depending on if it’s pronounced accurately or not
[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite name we have so far is [name_m]Lewis[/name_m], and my husband told me “it’s growing on him” a few weeks after he adamantly told me it reminded him too much of Meet the Robinsons But who knows if that means he vaguely likes it, or likes it enough to use it. He’s a hard man to read sometimes!
Some others we have, which are mostly my husband’s suggestions but I’m not opposed to either one of them:
[name_u]Amory[/name_u]
[name_u]Ezra[/name_u]
[name_u]Ara[/name_u] (it means King)
Araz (a river in Armenia)
[name_m]Grant[/name_m]
[name_u]Montgomery[/name_u]
Saren (from the mountains)
Tigran (pronounced “tee-gran” . It means fighter with arrows, and is also an ancient amenian emperor)
[name_m]Zaven[/name_m] (uncertain meaning)
a quick note–most "A"s in Armenian names are pronounced like the “A” in “Bard”, or close to that–however, I’m no expert and only “Armenian by contamination” as my grandfather would say, so it may not be right in all names.
I really like [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]. [name_m]Zaven[/name_m], Tigran, and [name_u]Ara[/name_u] are such lovely names. Maybe you might like [name_m]Louis[/name_m]?
I think you have many great options already! I really like [name_u]Amory[/name_u], [name_u]Ezra[/name_u], [name_u]Ara[/name_u], Araz, Saren, Tigran and [name_m]Zaven[/name_m]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] a few more Armenian names I found that you may like
[name_m]Aram[/name_m] • means excellence
[name_u]Ari[/name_u] •means brave
[name_u]Taron[/name_u] •name of a region in historic Armenia
thanks everyone for your suggestions–and encouragement on the names already on our list! There are definitely a few I will discuss with my husband It’s difficult finding a name that will be easily pronounceable for others if we go the Armenian route, mostly because my husband’s family are the only Armenians in our community. So, I again, I appreciate the suggestions and encouragement
I really adore [name_u]Ara[/name_u], Araz and [name_m]Zaven[/name_m] for you! [name_u]Amory[/name_u], [name_u]Ezra[/name_u] and [name_u]Montgomery[/name_u] are wonderful as well. Araz [name_u]Montgomery[/name_u] would be my choice
