Since we have had a steady top three for a while now and still have about two months before we meet the little man to finally decide “The [name]One[/name]” I have been trying to visualize the names on a real person from little baby to adult to old man. I was curious to see what Nameberry thinks when they see these names. What kind of person do you picture? Personality type? etc etc. So post on berries and as always general opinions on the names are welcome.
All 3 are really lovely names with a similar feel. I can’t picture a personality for each. I don’t believe there is any stereotype associated with these names- looking at them I wouldn’t think ‘nerd’ or ‘jock’ or whatever. There so flexible. When your boy is born he’ll make the name his own. If pushed, I could see these names belonging to young boys only because they’re commonly used now
This is tough because I love all of your three names…they do give me different images.
[name]Felix[/name] - a lively boy full of spunk and zest for life
[name]Isaac[/name] - more serious and studious
[name]Dominic[/name] - masculine and athletic
I think [name]Felix[/name] and [name]Dominic[/name] flow the best with the mn [name]Jeffrey[/name]. I prefer the [name]Geoffrey[/name] spelling myself.
[name]Felix[/name], as a boy, I picture as mischievous but lovable and affable. As an adolescent, he would be friendly and popular, but also studious. As an adult I picture him happily married with a job that involves working with people. I picture brown hair and hazel eyes, medium build and a great big grin.
[name]Isaac[/name], I picture as a quiet and shy little boy. As an adolescent, he seems more studious and introverted. More intelligent than athletic. As an adult I picture [name]Isaac[/name] as a church going family man, with a very good job. I picture balding with glasses and a slim build.
[name]Dominic[/name], I imagine would be the most rambunctious and the most hyper little boy in class. A fast talker, intelligent and athletic. As an adolescent I picture [name]Dominic[/name] as popular, although maybe a little arrogant and snobby. As an adult I would picture him with a beautiful wife and beautiful kids and a decent job. He would be handsome, well over 6 feet tall and built like a brick shit house.
As you can tell I like the name [name]Felix[/name] the most, and I really like [name]Dominic[/name]. I don’t care for [name]Isaac[/name] at all.
[name]Felix[/name]: A very sweet, freckled, red haired boy. He’s shy at first when meeting new people.
When he gets to school, he pays attention and is really smart.
I can picture him as an author or journalist once he gets out in the world.
[name]Isaac[/name]: A rambunctious baby with big doe eyes, he’s always trying to escape from his playpen.
He gets in trouble with his teacher at times for being a bit of a “class clown.”
When he settles down and gets serious, he may be a police officer or enlist in the military.
[name]Dominic[/name]: A dark haired, brown eyed little gentleman. He warms up to people quickly and loves to be held.
He has many friends and is quite the heartthrob when he gets to high school. Might love team sports, might not.
After he graduates high school, he goes on to college to study art.
I love how we all have some of the same feelings about these. Except, uselesskitty and I have switched views of [name]Felix[/name] and [name]Isaac[/name]! Haha I’m glad I didn’t read anyone’s responses before I wrote mine, it might’ve influenced my impressions.
[name]Felix[/name] - I imagine a precocious, adventurous little boy with blond hair and mischievous blue eyes and a scalawag grin. He loves blue and [name]Thomas[/name] the Train and adventure. He’s not really clingy, but really loves being around both his parents–he’s no more a momma’s boy than a daddy’s boy.
[name]Isaac[/name] - Sensitive, kind, a bit on the quieter side, but he has an adventurous streak. He loves reading as soon as he learns and he loves to help people. He’s a momma’s boy. When he gets to school, he’s popular, but the kind of popular that everyone loves, he’s not mean and doesn’t bully when he gets to high school. He’s talented, smart, has a good head on his shoulders.
[name]Dominic[/name] - A bit of an adventurer, with a strong sense of honor and what’s right and wrong. He’s committed to doing the right thing. He’s kind of quiet, in the way that [name]Fitzwilliam[/name] [name]Darcy[/name] is quiet–it comes off kind of moody and proud, but on the inside, he’s got a really good heart. I imagine a [name]Dominic[/name] to be quite religious–not in a pretentious or cult-like way, but that his faith guides him in everything and it’s the most important thing to him. Maybe that stems from [name]Dominic[/name]'s meaning, “[name]Lord[/name]”.
[name]Isaac[/name] is my favorite, but I also really love [name]Dominic[/name].
[name]Felix[/name] seems nerdy and dorky to me no matter what age I visualize him as.
[name]Isaac[/name] is a fave of mine and seems like a strong and handsome name for any age-I don’t have a specific age range for [name]Isaac[/name]. He’s cool, classy, popular, intelligent.
[name]Dominic[/name] I don’t like as much as [name]Isaac[/name], but is similar to [name]Isaac[/name]'s description above.
[name]Felix[/name]- I picture a quirky guy. The name has a European feel to it, [name]IMO[/name].
[name]Isaac[/name]- one of my sons is [name]Isaac[/name]. I love this name. My [name]Isaac[/name] is quiet, creative, and very sweet. Artsy maybe?
[name]Dominic[/name]- This sounds like an Italian guy to me. It screams Italian American to me because of my upbringing.
I honestly don’t get the “name image” thing. There are as many kinds of [name]Felix[/name] as there are Felixes. Know what I mean?
The best I can do is say [name]Felix[/name] is a bit more spunky and trendy as a name. [name]Isaac[/name] sounds a little intellectual or philosophical. [name]Dominic[/name] I would call kind of Euro-masculine and athletic.
I think most of these “images” come from associations that go away once they’re applied to your own child. I probably get that image of [name]Felix[/name] b/c of the cartoon cat, [name]Isaac[/name] b/c I know an [name]Isaac[/name] who’s very angsty and teaches Bikram yoga, and [name]Dominic[/name] b/c I know an exotic-looking, sports-loving [name]Dominic[/name].
I agree that there is no one name image and “images” are really more associations from personal experiences than. Our little guy will make his name his own once he’s here I just was curious about other people’s thoughts and associations. [name]Just[/name] for fun. It is funny how a lot of people see them similarly though.
