Girls:
[name]Shea[/name]/[name]Shay[/name] – I love the sound of this, and find myself wanting to stick it in the middle-name slot with lots of first names that I like. However, I’m afraid [name]Shea[/name] would get mispronounced as “Shee,” and the [name]Shay[/name] spelling looks too made up to me. This wouldn’t bother me for a middle name, but it would stop me from using it as a first name. Something you may want to consider.
[name]Pearl[/name] – Because it’s only one syllable, this seems like a perfect middle name for lots of potential firsts. But now that I’m thinking about it, I think it could be an awesome first name as well. So vintage! Makes me think of 1950s glamorous Hollywood stars.
[name]Alice[/name] – Not bad, but not noteworthy either, in my opinion.
[name]Eliza[/name] – This is a cute, spunky name. I like it paired with [name]Jane[/name].
[name]Lila[/name]/[name]Lyla[/name] (too close to my own name of [name]Ayla[/name]?) – Yes, it’s close to your own name, but it’s beautiful. I don’t see it as a bad thing that it is similar to your name. Fathers give their names to their sons, so why can’t mothers pass down the same, or similar, names to their daughters?
[name]Rose[/name] – I can’t really comment on this name because a personal association with a [name]Rose[/name] makes me strongly dislike it. It’s unfortunate, because I could see it being really pretty.
[name]Abigail[/name] – [name]Love[/name] [name]Abigail[/name], nickname [name]Abby[/name]. [name]Cheerful[/name] and timeless.
[name]Violet[/name] – All V names are stunning. Other suggestions: [name]Virginia[/name]. [name]Viviana[/name]. [name]Vienna[/name].
[name]Honor[/name] – I fail to see the appeal in this name. I think the word sounds harsh and nasally, like honking.
[name]Luna[/name] – I like it, but be aware of the “lunatic” and “looney” teasing potential.
Boys:
[name]Sebastian[/name] – Not my style. To me this is still the red crab on The [name]Little[/name] Mermaid.
[name]Henry[/name] – I really like this with your other kids’ names. It matches.
[name]Milo[/name] – This has an O in it, which your other sons’ names also have. Kind of a cool connection.
[name]Luke[/name] – This feels a bit redneck to me, but it’s been loved for thousands of years, so who am I to criticize?
[name]Franklin[/name] – I think [name]Franklin[/name] is handsome, along with [name]Frederick[/name].
[name]Silas[/name] – You cannot go wrong with this name.
[name]Arthur[/name] – I love the name [name]Arthur[/name]! I think it would be darling on a little boy. I don’t know that I can picture a high schooler or college kid named [name]Arthur[/name], but then again, he will be growing up in a different generation where those older names are coming back in.
[name]Roman[/name] – This name has crossed my mind a few times but has never made my list of favorites. I like the sound of it, but I almost feel like it sounds like a dog’s name.
[name]Avery[/name] (going to the girls?) – I know this one has gone to the girls, but I would [name]LOVE[/name] to see it on a boy! So classy and refined.
[name]Edwin[/name] – Handsome.
[name]Nathaniel[/name] – [name]LOVE[/name] the names [name]Nathaniel[/name] and [name]Nathan[/name], but have never liked the nickname [name]Nate[/name], which seems inevitable. [name]Nate[/name] strikes me as a redneck name.
