Name List Opinions and Suggestions

Help! Longtime name nerd coping with major baby fever for the last few months, my partner and I are a few years away from the reality of TTC but we do have a name list. I figured it would be fun to channel my baby fever into getting feedback on our shortlist (so I don’t drive her crazy with baby talk

Boys:
[name_m]Apollo[/name_m] [name_f]Joice[/name_f] (The #1 choice. [name_f]Joice[/name_f] is a family name, [name_u]Joyce[/name_u]/[name_f]Joice[/name_f] have been used for generations for boys and girls respectively on my partner’s side of the family)
[name_u]North[/name_u] [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] ([name_m]Patrick[/name_m] is another family choice, honoring an uncle who passed away)
[name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] (still trying to get her on board for this one)

Girls:
[name_f]Laila[/name_f] (loving [name_u]Poet[/name_u] and [name_u]Everest[/name_u] as middle names, open to suggestions)
[name_u]Skye[/name_u] (no idea what to pair this with)
[name_u]Everest[/name_u] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] (Nickname [name_f]Evie[/name_f], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] is a family name)

Some family names I would like to find ways to include are [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] , [name_m]William[/name_m], and [name_f]Mary[/name_f]-[name_f]Nell[/name_f]

Ok girls names were really hard for us to agree on, she loved a lot of more boyish names like [name_u]Peyton[/name_u], [name_u]Camden[/name_u], and [name_u]Ryan[/name_u]…I liked more feminine names like [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Aria[/name_f], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. [name_f]Laila[/name_f] is the only girl name we both agreed on, and I’m still not sold on it. So opinions, suggestions for other names based on what we have (especially more girl names!) and middle name suggestions would be great! Honest opinions are appreciated, we’re far away from naming real humans so this is all fun and no stress at the moment. Thanks.

BOYS:
[name_m]Apollo[/name_m] [name_f]Joice[/name_f] - I prefer the spelling [name_u]Joyce[/name_u], and I would personally use [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] in a middle spot (I’m not brave enough to make it a first). I really like the sound of the two names together, though.

[name_u]North[/name_u] [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] - I am not really a fan of [name_u]North[/name_u]. Maybe as a middle… I would make this convo [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] [name_u]North[/name_u], but it is fine either way. I like [name_m]Patrick[/name_m], but not any of its nns ([name_f]Patty[/name_f], [name_u]Pat[/name_u], etc)

[name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] - I would personally make this one a middle, but if you get your partner on bpard with it, it could work as a first.

GIRLS:
[name_f]Laila[/name_f] - I love this! Both the middles you like with it work really well, especially [name_u]Poet[/name_u], [name_f]IMO[/name_f].

[name_u]Skye[/name_u] - I also love this. (Maybe as another possible middle for [name_f]Laila[/name_f]? [name_f]Laila[/name_f] [name_u]Skye[/name_u]?)

[name_u]Everest[/name_u] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] - again, I don’t think I’d be brave enough to use [name_u]Everest[/name_u] as a first, but if you are, this combo is awesome! ([name_u]Love[/name_u] nn [name_f]Evie[/name_f]!)

Ideas for including family names [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_m]William[/name_m], and [name_f]Mary[/name_f]-[name_f]Nell[/name_f]:

[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]
[name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
[name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] (for [name_f]Nell[/name_f])
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] (for [name_f]Mary[/name_f])
[name_f]Maria[/name_f]/[name_f]Marie[/name_f]/[name_f]Annemarie[/name_f] (for [name_f]Mary[/name_f])

Other suggestions:
[name_f]Camille[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f] (with more boyish nn [name_u]Jules[/name_u]?)
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f]/[name_f]Emilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] ([name_f]Lettie[/name_f]?)
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] ([name_u]Jo[/name_u], [name_u]Josie[/name_u]?)
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f]/[name_f]Louise[/name_f] (nn [name_u]Lou[/name_u]?)
[name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Anya[/name_f]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]/[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] ([name_f]Cece[/name_f]?)
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f]
[name_u]Emerson[/name_u]/Emersen
[name_m]Luther[/name_m]
[name_m]Caesar[/name_m]
[name_u]Holland[/name_u]
[name_m]Jupiter[/name_m]
[name_m]Wolf[/name_m]
[name_m]Tolliver[/name_m]
[name_m]Justus[/name_m]
[name_m]Gunnar[/name_m]
[name_m]Ronan[/name_m]
[name_m]Artemus[/name_m]
[name_m]Caspar[/name_m]/[name_m]Casper[/name_m]

Thanks for your thoughtful input! I adore pretty much all the girl names you suggested, but would have a hard time getting my partner on board. [name_f]Camille[/name_f] (my middle name) and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] (her mom goes by [name_u]Jo[/name_u]) I have been able to get into possible middle name territory.

I love the sound of [name_f]Laila[/name_f], but am not completely sold because 1) names with that sound have been so trendy for a while: [name_u]Jayden[/name_u], [name_u]Brayden[/name_u], [name_u]Aiden[/name_u], [name_m]Kaden[/name_m], [name_f]Jayla[/name_f], [name_u]Jalen[/name_u], [name_u]Kaelin[/name_u], etc…and there are so many different invented spellings, I worry that [name_f]Laila[/name_f] would get lost in the mix. and 2) [name_f]Laila[/name_f], [name_f]Leila[/name_f], and [name_f]Layla[/name_f] all appear to be legitimate spellings, with [name_f]Layla[/name_f] being the most common. My partner doesn’t like the [name_f]Layla[/name_f] spelling though.

We’re both pretty brave when it comes to names: we work with kids and live in a very diverse city with lots of different cultures; we’ve noticed that in this generation name teasing isn’t really a concern. My main concern is that the name is easy to spell and pronounce.

What do you think of [name_f]Lila[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Laila[/name_f]? [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_u]Poet[/name_u]?

Also going to try to get her on board for [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] nn [name_f]Nell[/name_f]. [name_f]Lila[/name_f] and [name_f]Nell[/name_f] would be a cute sibset [name_f]IMO[/name_f].

[name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_u]Poet[/name_u] would be beautiful as well! And [name_f]Nell[/name_f] & [name_f]Lila[/name_f] would be a really cute sibset.

Would your partner like more girly names with boyish nicknames, or does she mainly just like boyish/unisex names?

If she likes the former, some suggestions:
[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] - [name_u]Max[/name_u]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] - [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]
[name_f]Cassia[/name_f]/[name_f]Kassia[/name_f] - [name_m]Cash[/name_m]
[name_f]Nicole[/name_f]/[name_u]Nicola[/name_u] - [name_u]Nikki[/name_u]
[name_f]Georgina[/name_f]/[name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] - [name_u]Georgie[/name_u]
[name_f]Danielle[/name_f] - [name_u]Dani[/name_u]
[name_f]Francesca[/name_f] - [name_u]Frankie[/name_u]
[name_f]Samantha[/name_f]/[name_f]Samuella[/name_f] - [name_u]Sam[/name_u]
[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] - [name_u]Alex[/name_u], [name_u]Andy[/name_u]
[name_f]Antonia[/name_f] - [name_f]Toni[/name_f]
[name_f]Augusta[/name_f] - [name_u]Gus[/name_u]
[name_f]Christine[/name_f]/[name_f]Christina[/name_f] - [name_u]Chris[/name_u]
[name_f]Winifred[/name_f] - [name_u]Freddie[/name_u]
[name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] - [name_m]Hank[/name_m]
[name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] - [name_u]Billie[/name_u]/[name_u]Willie[/name_u]
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f] - [name_m]Teddie[/name_m]

If she likes the latter, maybe these:
[name_f]Erin[/name_f]
[name_u]Devon[/name_u]
[name_f]Steffi[/name_f]
[name_u]Bailey[/name_u]
[name_u]Cameron[/name_u]
[name_u]Riley[/name_u]
[name_u]Dakota[/name_u]
[name_u]Drew[/name_u]
Finely
[name_u]Jaden[/name_u]/[name_u]Jordan[/name_u]
[name_u]Lane[/name_u]/[name_u]Dane[/name_u]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]
[name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_u]Taylor[/name_u]

[name_f]Theodora[/name_f] is really growing on me. I could probably get my partner on board with a boyish nn like [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] or [name_u]Theo/name_u but [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] would have so many options so whether she’s a girly girly or super tomboyish she can choose something that fits to go by at school, work, etc…
I’ve been daydreaming about sibset [name_f]Theodora[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] all day (all unique spins on family names.)
