Name List :)

Alright, so I know the overwhelming verdict on these names from my polls, but I would love some commentary as well!

Laura Elizabeth - I am really in love with this name right now. It’s classic & classless, mystical, warm, literary, and mysterious, etc. Laura-Beth would be an unoriginal, but darling moniker (in my opinion). Please let me know what you think! If you think it’s dated, which I totally understand, I will say it goes back centuries and would ask you to imagine the name just in sound. Otherwise, fire away as I crave honest feedback!

Julia Katherine - This one always does exceptionally well in my polls! It has all the same attributes as Laura, except perhaps not as mysterious and maybe not as classless. Nonetheless, it is romantic and jubilant. That said, Julia is also considered dated and people hate the nickname “Jools,” so that does inspire consternation on my part. It’s just so melodic that when I watch old movies, it definitely seems like it would fit seamlessly in my romantic imaginings.

Lily Jane - Beloved by many, I love the flow and the gentle, happy ring to Lily Jane. The only issue is some find it infantile and weaker sounding than the ones above. Also, I would not classify Lily as a classic; rather, I would argue it’s a vintage that is extremely trendy right now. As a result, Lily might date.

Anna – Not sure about middle name, but I constantly go back-and-forth with this name. It’s probably the most loved name I’ve ever encountered, but I’m not sure if my heart follows everyone else’s. I just don’t know if it’s too nasally (I have a nasally accent), but it is so bright and international that I can appreciate why it’s garnered such a vast crowd of devotees. It seems to be the least controversial which is why I’m pulled toward its direction.

Right now, I’m leaning toward Laura Elizabeth and Lily Jane. Too floral? Too many Ls? Will I get stuck in the letter L and not be able to have any more children after these two? Could a boy’s name differ from the L theme?

Please don’t spare a critique for my sake – I want to know everything in advance of my naming a child one day so I can weigh these names accordingly.

Laura [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] - I think your description of “classic & classless, mystical, warm, literary, and mysterious” is perfect! This name feels so kind and welcoming- like sitting in front of a crackling fire in the wintertime.

Julia [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] - [name_f]Julia[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] is lovely as well! It’s so elegant and polished but also sweet and approachable. I don’t love the look of ‘[name_u]Jools[/name_u]’ but I do think [name_u]Jules[/name_u] (pronounced the same, I would assume?) is a sweet and spunky nickname.

Lily [name_f]Jane[/name_f] - [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is very sweet and summery! It brings to mind sunshine and lemonade. It does feel less substantial than the names above, but I wouldn’t consider it infantile by any means. I do think [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is trending now, but I don’t think it will become dated.

Anna - I love [name_f]Anna[/name_f]! It’s simple and classic without being boring, and I agree that the international aspect is a plus. I don’t have a nasally accent, personally, but I think it sounds lovely in any accent.

I don’t think [name_f]Laura[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] are too floral together. However, I do think it establishes an L theme if you use them both (particularly if you use them first- if you had a [name_f]Laura[/name_f], and then a [name_f]Julia[/name_f], and then a [name_f]Lily[/name_f], it wouldn’t feel that way). But, I know that I overthink sibling names- I’m super picky about matching initials and matching lengths. In the real world, I don’t think people will find it that odd. But, it could be something they weaponize as little children (“only names starting with L allowed in our room!”) because I know my cousins and I did things like that when we were really young :woman_facepalming:

Have you considered [name_f]Julianna[/name_f]? It might help you “freshen up” [name_f]Julia[/name_f] and give you a place for [name_f]Anna[/name_f].

I have, but I love the simplicity of [name_f]Julia[/name_f] and [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. Thank you for giving me something to consider some more, though!

Laura [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is simple, beautiful and meaningful! [name_f]Laura[/name_f]-[name_f]Beth[/name_f] is cute!!

Julia [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] is light but sturdy at the same time

Lily [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is sweet and simple

Anna is bright, rugged and strong! [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] would make a nice combo

With [name_f]Laura[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] I kind of like the idea of [name_f]Laura[/name_f]-[name_f]Bess[/name_f] as an alternative to [name_f]Laura[/name_f]-[name_f]Beth[/name_f], only because [name_f]Beth[/name_f] always sends my mind straight to [name_f]Bethany[/name_f] rather than [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], but [name_f]Laura[/name_f]-[name_f]Beth[/name_f] is darling all the same.

[name_f]Laura[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Julia[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] read very similarly to me in style and age. I think I slightly prefer the look of [name_f]Julia[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] and think that the C spelling generally reads more classic, but there’s nothing wrong with [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]. Personally I like [name_u]Jools[/name_u], though I’d likely spell it out like the name [name_u]Jules[/name_u] myself.

I don’t, necessarily find [name_f]Lily[/name_f] more juvenile than your other name choices, I think it ages just fine, but I do agree it’s a bit weaker sounding. [name_f]Lillian[/name_f], [name_f]Lilia[/name_f], [name_f]Lileas[/name_f], or [name_f]Liliosa[/name_f] all sound stronger.

[name_f]Anna[/name_f] is a completely middle-of-the-road name for me. I don’t dislike it at all but I also don’t love it. I think there are just other forms of [name_u]Anne[/name_u] that I like considerably more than [name_f]Anna[/name_f].

[name_f]Laura[/name_f] and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] would be too themey as sisters for my own taste but really the floral connection is subtle and 2 children sharing an initial isn’t a dealbreaker. I wouldn’t do more than 2 L names though- I think once you get to 3 or more you sort of pigeonhole yourself into only names sharing that same first initial. But 2 isn’t necessarily a theme, as it’s reasonable that someone would just happen to love two names that start with the same letter.

I think all these names are timeless and ever so lovely. Though I really dropped by to offer some middle names for Anna. The right middle name can make a big difference to the way we feel.

So in keeping with your style, I’d like to suggest Anna Claire, Anna Victoria and Anna Violet.

Laura [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]: I love the name [name_f]Laura[/name_f] and would use it myself. It’s not too common now which is a good thing in my opinion.

Lily: [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] too! I love names of characters in books that I read and get a lot of inspiration because they tend to have deep meaning. I read the book The [name_f]Secret[/name_f] Life of Bees and loved [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Melissa[/name_f] [name_m]Owens[/name_m].

Anne/Anna: Out of [name_u]Anne[/name_u] VS [name_f]Anna[/name_f] I like [name_u]Anne[/name_u] better maybe because I am a minimalist and love the nickname [name_f]Annie[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite combination of [name_u]Anne[/name_u] though is Annaclaire.

Hi there.

Here are my thoughts on the list:

Laura [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]-I think that it’s nice & safe. It’s dated a little bit, but that’s also kind of nice that you’re not likely to run into any other little Lauras. Most of them are in their 30s. I want to like the name [name_f]Laura[/name_f] in theory, but the thing that I don’t like about it is that the pronunciation isn’t clear. Is it [name_f]Lora[/name_f] or L-are-uh? Or Loo-ruh? I usually say [name_f]Lora[/name_f]. I actually have a friend called this (not a close friend, but a softball teammate), & I generally just say her name quickly w/out clear pronunciation. :joy: I prefer the name [name_u]Laurel[/name_u] to [name_f]Laura[/name_f]. It’s a little more interesting, & has the lovely botanical imagery.

Julia [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]-I feel here about the same way I do about [name_f]Laura[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. It’s nice & pretty & safe. It doesn’t sparkle for me, but there’s nothing at all wrong w/it.

Lily [name_f]Jane[/name_f]-Aw, I love [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. It’s hard to say w/out a smile. I totally agree w/you about the vintage but not as much classic take. I’ve never thought of it that way, but it makes sense. Either way, I wouldn’t let that be a deal breaker if you love it. It’s so sweet.

Anna-I think it’s nice. It isn’t amazing, but I like it. It works well for all ages. It’s smart & quiet & clearly feminine w/out being frilly.

Hope this helps.

Laura [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]- I think this is lovely and distinguished! [name_f]Laura[/name_f]-[name_f]Beth[/name_f] is very sweet, and this name seems versatile, gentle, and timeless.

Julia [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]- I think this matches [name_f]Laura[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] very well. They both seem timeless and eminently usable.

Lily [name_f]Jane[/name_f]- This is very sweet! I do think [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is slightly more expected than your other names, but this combination is lovely.

Anna- I can see why this appeals to you; it’s familiar, versatile, and unassuming. It sounds like a great choice. I also think it’s a name that sounds fine even in different accents.

I think two L names can be seen as an accident, especially with other siblings. [name_f]My[/name_f] sister matches my initial unintentionally. However, even though I love [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], I think it is the most out of place of your combinations. I think it matches well, but not quite as perfectly as the others.

I think all of these names are lovely!

Oh, I love your style.

Laura [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is perfection of a classic combo. It’s so charming, so warm - I can see so much modern potential in [name_f]Laura[/name_f] especially.
It’s no surprise for me that [name_f]Julia[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] does well in polls - it’s timeless, it’s beautiful - you just can’t go wrong with this!
[name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is lovely. I agree; [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is a little less of a classic compared to your other names. Saying that, I think it harmonises so beautifully with your style, especially with [name_f]Jane[/name_f], that it totally works for me.
[name_f]Anna[/name_f] is just perfect. I’m so happy I’ve found it on someone else’s list, others have always told me it’s a boring name. I like this name a lot and it has such huge potential.

Laura and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] would be great for siblings! It’s everything else than too floral for me, I love floral names
And you can easily name a third child with a different letter than the last two, in my opinion, I know plenty of siblings of three where two have the same initial. :slightly_smiling_face:
So nothing to worry about.

Laura [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]: I think this name as a beautiful sound! While I do think that [name_f]Laura[/name_f] is a bit dated, I think it flows wonderfully with [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], and Laur is a timeless nickname, as [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] is so popular. What do you think about [name_u]Laurel[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]? It almost has the same sound and seems a bit more recent to me

Julia [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]: I am not a big fan of [name_f]Julia[/name_f], but I love the way it flows with [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] and would be adorable on someone of any age! I love [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] as well.

Lily [name_f]Jane[/name_f]- I think this name is adorable, and I love both names separately as well! [name_f]My[/name_f] only critique is the shortness of the name, which could balance out with a longer surname. However, if the surname is short as well, perhaps [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] or [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] with the nn [name_f]Lily[/name_f] would work

Anna- I LOVE [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. I think it is so cute in conversation, but it does sound funny when you just say it out loud. I’m not quite sure why lol! [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite combination with [name_f]Anna[/name_f] is [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]. I think it’s beautiful. If you’re worried about the nasally sound of [name_f]Anna[/name_f], maybe you would like [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f], or perhaps [name_f]Annabeth[/name_f]?

I love the sibset of [name_f]Laura[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. Personally I think [name_f]Laura[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] ([name_f]Lily[/name_f]-uh) [name_f]Jane[/name_f] sound a bit better, but [name_f]Lily[/name_f] could still be the nn. I don’t think it sounds too floral at all, and I love the alliteration! I think continuing the L theme would look the best, but it is your children, and there really are no rules! For a girl, I think [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]) would fit your theme. However, if you don’t want to continue the L’s, [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] works beautifully as well! For a boy, [name_u]Liam[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] really fits the theme for be, but a name like [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] (which still has L’s but breaks the theme) sounds adorable as well!
