name LUCIAN or LUCIANO for a boy

I’m pregnant with our second baby and don’t know the gender yet but I want to have a name picked out in case it’s a boy. Our first is named [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m] [name_m]Ramon[/name_m] and for this baby we want to name him (if he’s a boy) [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] (loo-see-on or loo-see-in) or [name_m]Luciano[/name_m] (loo-see-on-oh) with possibly the middle name [name_m]Alexander[/name_m].
I just have a couple of questions…

  1. which name sounds better, [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] or [name_m]Luciano[/name_m]?
  2. Does the middle name [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] go with it?
  3. Would [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] or [name_m]Luciano[/name_m] go with the sibling name [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m]?
  1. I love [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] (and most -ian names)! The sound, look and meaning are great. I’m so glad you’re using the Loo-see-an pronunciation. I dislike the 2 syllable one.
  2. [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is so handsome.
  3. I think [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] and [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m], and [name_m]Luciano[/name_m] and [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m] both sound great.
  1. I prefer [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] to [name_m]Luciano[/name_m], unless you are Italian/honoring an Italian heritage. [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] is beautiful but still straightforward. [name_m]Luciano[/name_m] is a little too ornate for my tastes.
  2. Either name works great with [name_m]Alexander[/name_m].
  3. Either name goes great with a brother named [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m].

I really like the name ‘[name_m]Lucian[/name_m]’ (though I prefer the two syllable pronunciation for myself). I’m so glad to hear other people like it too! I think [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] is better, unless you are Italian.

I third the “[name_m]Lucian[/name_m] is the better option unless there’s Italian heritage” opinion.

I think either works, but I adore [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] and think it great with [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]!
